Ok. A few months ago a joined a new gym. Really like the place, has a mix of every type of training apparatus and a good mix of clients. I became friendly with the owner who is also a trainer. We talk whenever he's in and one day I began to discuss some of my injuries. He then proceeded to offer a free training session to go over some techniques to help alleviate pain and get the parts of me that aren't working properly back to good functionality. Foam roller, band resistance, different exercises I normally don't do. I was taken aback. here's a guy who barely knows me and goes out of his way to just help. In my head I'm thinking..."I don't need help, I've been doing this a long time, I'm just broken down and there is nothing I can do about it"...My pride just being an ass. After a day of thinking about it, what could it hurt. (I forgot to mention he's a powerlifter as well)
I met him the other morning and we went through a bunch of little thing I overlook, and the stuff I already mentioned. And When we were done I realized...I would have been an idiot not to accept his help and advice.
You can teach an old dog new tricks. So I'm curious if anyone has come across this situation and just said, "whatever bro". We always seek advice here so I couldn't understand why I had an issue getting it from someone in the gym...just me being an ignoramus.
