    I'm not a grinch but I seriously hate getting adults presents. I love giving to kids, I love giving to those in need, but I hate just buying some adult such as a family member a present. I don't need a present, I buy myself what I want I don't need a gift card or some lame shirt!

    Lol there are exceptions to this but over all am I alone in thinking as adults it's time to grow up and start carrying more about how we treat each other year round?

    No, you're not alone! I don't buy gifts for other adults unless it's my kids grandparents or they don't have other family etc. I don't want or need presents and they don't need me to buy for them either. That's not what Christmas is about anyways!

        I feel the same way 6p6 I tell the wife to buy what ever she wants for herself for Christmas but as far as any gifts no we just cards and toys for my nephews and niceses but myself I don't care for gifts I just wanna celebrate the birth of our lord and savior and be blessed to spend time with family.

          So true! Xmas is for kids plain and simple. I usually pick up something little for the older kids and adults but this year I am not. I will just spend extra on the kids. In our family we stop buying for the kids after age 18. My parents never want anything but creative " me" has come up with things the past few years and got my siblings together to contribute. This year I am buying them one of those books that you record your voice while you read it. I decided this yesterday because I am feeling like they are getting older and time is moving fast. I always hear both of their voices strong in my head with all their encouraging words. I want them to read this story and record. I will then have their voices with me forever. Sorry to ramble..

              I'm the same. I get the kids whatever they want. I don't think its about presents so I ask everyone to not exchange gifts with me. I did get my grandma something bc she won't but anything for herself.

                "So what are you getting me for Christmas?" I hate hearing that, then the're pissed cause it wasn't something expensive. I give to people that really need it, example ; I was pulling into Safeway and noticed this lil Mexican guy emptying trash cans and cleaning up, he would look up and give a polite smile and a hello to people coming out of the stores, everybody would just TOTALY act like he was invisible ! I sat in my truck and watched this for awhile, it was making me f#cking sick to my stomach watching all these well to do old hens nose in a smart phone and clutching their Starbuck hazel berry latte walk by this "Mexican dirtbag" with a fat turd under their nose ! I didn't know weather to cry or puke, I had jobs washing dishes and stuff starting out and went through the same thing so I felt for this guy. I walked across the parking lot to this guy as he was picking up some spilled s#it one of these a$$holes left for him, I said "Hey brother take this" he took a step back and kinda looked at me like watcha gonna do, I had a 20 in my pocket and put it in his hand, patted him on the shoulder and said "God Bless you, Brother take care" and walked off. Just the way people are to one another nowadays makes me wanna upchuck. God Bless Us All !

                  One more thing since I'm on the subject, I got a $50 gift card for the Outback and a $25 Safeway card. I was gonna give the Outback card to my EX- s#itty excuse for a girlfriend's daughter and boyfriend, they weigh 700 pounds between themselves and I never got as much as card from them, ever. So I'm thinking I'm just going to find someone worthy of just one lousy break in their life to give it to. I'm going to give the Safeway card to my neighbor, she was thoughtful enough to bring me a really nice burger for cutting her lawn. My ex thinks it's a stupid idea, she's an a$$hole anyway.

                    It gets pretty ridiculous on my mother-in-laws side as we hand gift cards back and fourth. We might as well hand each other cash or......... just say Merry Christmas and watch the kids.

                      I hate getting presents for adults. I never know what to get anyone, then there are those situations when someone gets you something but you didn't get them anything. My strategy = I try to spoil my nieces and nephew, tell everyone I don't need anything and try to have something for the known adult gift givers lol.

                        I thinks it's a wonderful idea to give to other who just can't catch a break! I would much rather know that someone did that than get me something! Even if it's $5-10! You never know the impact you could have on their lives!

                          we always pour all of our budget into the kids for christmas. then after taxes we get each other anything that we want or need and the kids too.

                            I'm probably in the minority, but I cant wait for the holidays to be over and things get back to normal! No, Im not a scrooge, I just dont care for all this commercialization crap everywhere for 2 solid months

                              No I hate the commicalized part too. I love Christmas and getting everyone together. But I feel like marking it into about just buying gifts and money misses the point of what its really about.
