When did you change to your religion? Was it because of your undying love for Allah (or Jesus for you christians) or was it because you didn't want to go to Hell. (That's what I thought)

They exploite your fear of the unknown and promised you a great after life if you just believe as they want you to and follow a few simple guidelines.

I notice with about all religions, if you dont follow them, there is some horrible torture waiting for you. This is where I have always felt part of the religion was created was to instill fear upon people and sense of control.


TKO to Christians (Baptists at least) we are taught that Alah is a false god, and that all Muslims are "non-believers". In your eyes, and a Baptists eyes...you both follow the one and only religion and each others are wrong.

What makes yours right and others wrong? Personal preference and environment (not always, but many times).

Think of how your life could be different if you were raised by a Catholic family, went to a private Catholic school, and always went to mass. Do you think your religion would be the same as it now? Very doubtfully unless you really really step outside the box.

Found it thanks B_B. It was Jacob but it was not an Angel it was God - that is why his name was changed to Isreal (Genesis 32:24)

At least the versions of the bible I read it was god (of course that doesn't mean anything)

I have also read when Moses came down from the mountain, depending on how you translate from Hebrew to English, he either had light coming from his head or he had horns coming from his head.

I don't know Hebrew though so I couldn't confirm that. but that is two totally different interpretations. Just a thought

Non-believers of the existence of God....those who live each day not acknowledging God's existence, and think God is merely Made up.....Who believe God can never have existed.....those are non-beleivers.....

Good dodge but I think your question needs to be modified.

Love is powerful, but derived from pleasure.
Fear is powerful, and derived from pain.

Thus they are equal. The human body is instinctively chasing pleasure (sex) and avoiding pain (leads to death) equally. That is why animals survive, because of the polarization of life. That explains survival.

So do you Love Allah (Jesus for christians) more than you Fear consequence of being punished for eternity?

I know the answer - whether your willing to admit it or not.

Honestly, in any religion, you must both love and fear God, but the fear factor should not reach the extent that one hides from this life and lives only for the after life........The two should balance out, but when you really think about it, it's the Love that plays the majority of the role.....The love is shown to God everyday through prayer, honesty, charity......The fear usually kicks in most when you know you've committed a HUGE ass sin.....

Billy, here is where a huge mis-interpretation takes place among non-Muslims.......Allah is not "a God", he is "The God", the Creator of the sun, the earth, all forms of life on this earth or better yet the universe.....Allah means God, Allah is just the Arabic name for "God"......the God you believe in is "Allah", but Allah is the arabic name for God......Even Arab-Christians I know always use the words "Insha-Allah" in Arabic, which means "If God Wills".........Just thought I'd clear that up.....
