I agree with this statement 100%. But these wars were not faught because God said to fight them, they were faught because of greed and power. Threrefor those cannot be laid on God's doorstep for Him to take the rap. All the things people dislike about God, were not even God's doing but those that said they "followed" Him. Big difference. If you remember (or maybe not), one of the Commandments in the Bible is "Though shall not KILL).
But again, way too many people have died in the name of religion. But many of those religions involve many different gods (little "g"). Nobody seems to mention the numbers of people that did not kill for their beliefs, but rather died for them.
Originally posted by morebeefplease see that is what is BS about religion. ppl go to church but don't practice what they preach.
Hey, I don't know what I did to you, but you have no right calling me a hypocrite. And it's not the religion, it's me. Go after me if you must, but I'm not blaming it on my religion and neither should you...You don't even know me.
I think he just misinterpreted your meaning Hollywood. Alot of people don't understand living up to standards other than our own. Don't think he meant to dis you.
And besides that, I'm not preaching anything, I'm having issues at the present time, and calling me out like that is hardly mature. If I told you that you need to go to church, and pray and all that stuff, sure you could call me whatever you wanted. Just had to add that, cause I like I said, I never "preached" anything.

So I take it you believe in pre-destiny (shit, a subject by itself-sorry). From your statement it sounds like you believe Billy_Bathgates environment helped lead to his lack of faith or because of his evnironment he never had a chance. If that is correct god made a bunch of souls just to see them suffer.
If there is no pre-destiny, how would someone born in a predominant muslim community have the same chance to get to a christian's heaven as you. (So it seems god is still playing favorites)
Don't put words into my mouth Klash. That is not what I am saying at all. I don't believe our environment makes us do anything. That is the whine of the victim. I was saying that I may have come to some of the same decision had a been in his shoes. As for B_B or anyone else never having a chance, I'll let you make that ASSumption, because I never will.
As for people growing up in other "religious" communities, I won't be baited into that discussion with you. Afterall, what I feal makes no difference one way or the other.

But you have to take into account that most that fought or died for them were radicals/extremeists.
I wouldnt say my enviornment made me do anything. The atmosphere simple enhanced my education so to speak for that particular religion/denomination.
I am not as familiar with other denominations, but I have looked into quite a few. There are definately MUCH more liberated ones out there.
What to me at least I have learned as far as denomination and christianity goes, they all STEM from the exact same thing...the Bible. To the best of my knowledge, there isnt a christian that doesnt believe in the Bible. It all comes down to ones own interpretation. Take a step further, it can make a personal differnce simply as what version of the Bible you have. King James seems to be the "standard" for the most accurate english version. I wish I could read Hebrew. I would be interested in seeing the interpretations that were made. As often times in launguages when transcripings, words jsut dont exist to have the same impact. Then there are the Mormons even to take this that extra step...extra versions or "lost" versions (as I believe they call it) of the Bible.
I think it really all comes down to your personal prefference. What makes you a Babtist and not a Catholic? Say both are presented to you equally. You have NOTHING to go on but what you FEEL deep inside and trust is the right one. Obviously, they arent all simply presented equally..but I was after the point really, which is that I dont thing that one religion is THE right one. I dont see how it could be possible, especially with the corruption from our human nature over many years.
Side note on destiney: I do believe in a final destination, but the journey getting there is up to us.
I also believe in reincarnation through generations and the after-life. Nothing but hunches either...but I believe it, just dont understand it.

Well said my man. And for the record, there cannot be a Christian that does not believe in the Bible to some degree. A not Bible believing Christian is contradictory to the word Christian in the first place. So you are correct in that. Also, from a Bible version standpoint, KJV is interpreted pretty close but too darn hard for those of us that or too uneducated to interpret it. lol I agree, I wish I know Greek and Hebrew too. That is why it is so important to learn about it from someone that has a good working knowledge of those languages. And denominations stem from whichever part of the Bible they want to build their foundation on. This is not always a good thing...obviously. lol I hate when Christian deniminations claim to be the right one too. Since when did being a member of any of them get someone to heaven in the first place? lol Like you said, it's the one you choose deep inside that matters. On a side note though... too many people choose a denomination because it is the easiest one to adhere to and requires the least committment. Again fellas, great conversation.
I'm Muslim and of course have STRONG faith in God......It really boggles my mind when people think they have NO creator....we just mysteriously or scientifically appeared ?? And the moon and sun and stars, and plants, and the millions of breeds of animals, and the ocean, and this entire universe....what you wanna tell me we did all this on our own ?? Please.......
