Rude awakening this morning at 4:30am

I heard a loud pop and my son yell. I jumped up and ran in his room. Never thought to grab my pistol. His aquarium pump exploded. So we have been rushing to try to get the water up to save the wood floor in his room.

We got to it ASAP with the wet/dry vac. still got between the planks and the underlayment.

Floor is ....ed. Cheap floor looked pretty good. Started to swell up and split. Took a break.

My son is upset. His fish are in a bucket.

I almost cracked a brew to help me deal with this shit.

Man I was so close to being done with this house so I could rest before spring when I build my fence. NOPE! there goes $400 worth of floor materials and 10 hours of my time.

Just go down tearing out the floor. That laminate was all we could afford when we installed it. It looks good still for being cheap stuff. I may just do carpet in his room. We have carpet in our bed room.

Shit happens like that to me all the time. If y'all would only know.
Cheap tile or Neolium or whatever works better than that layment.
And sealant over wood helps...

Damn that sucks brotha. That makes me think of the time my folks washing machine decided to dump water into the laundry room a couple inches deep. Sometimes shit just happens man. Sucks, but gotta keep your head up and keep on truckin'.

if your only looking for the room to re do sheet.. hit craigslist up. I have found all kinds of leftovers on the cheap to fix stuff like that. also check the clearance section of lowes.. many of a bargin I got from there also. home depot not so much until end of year clearance.

Jipped, I had a conversation last nite with my girlfriend at dinner , and my exact words were " Shit that happens to me , doesn't happen to anyone else " . " If it ain't one thing , it's something else , I swear " !!!

that sucks bro.. might into tile that looks like wood.. thats what i laid in my house when i built it a couple years back.. i was going to go with wood flooring but thought about it hard with my dogs scratching the floor up went the tile route..

I'm in the process of putting them floors in my house right now from the massive flood we had in 2016 and I'm going with a grey ash vinyl flooring. Its waterproof and wont let water get into the subflooring. It's a little more affordable than real wood and it lasts longer

This stuff was like superman and water was it's kryptonite. I have dropped a bench vice on it that weighed 20# and it did not dent it. Our old lab did laps and never scratched it. it was easy to clean. but get water under it. it swole up faster than a kid on his first cycle of drol
