Re: Grassfed Beef
our trader joe's is about an hour away and they have the best prices on organic meats. i love some organic grass fed also esp considering the nutrition profile and fat content is so much better for you. the down side for me is the amounts i eat are not feasible on my budget. so for me it is a special occasion deal and only when we are around tj's to pick it up.Originally posted by BABY1 View PostI bought some the other day at Trader Joes and made up some burgers on my new grill last night! Re: Grassfed Beef
that stuff is the best. my father in law several years ago bought a calf. raised it in his back yard (6 acres) and had it slaughtered in the following spring. still young but super tender. some of the best meat I have ever had. we have talked about doing it again but raising them for a few years but I do not thing he cares for the work involved and that is why he did not let this one get bigger.

Re: Grassfed Beef
When I lived in Kansas, I use to purchase a half side of grass-fed beef every year. On average it costs about $1200-$1300, which included processing. This brought the cost per pound to about $3.75-$3.99. Unfortunately, I don't have access to that kind of quality and price anymore, because we moved and finding beef at those rates in the Northeast is impossible!

Re: Grassfed Beef
before my butcher shut down 2 years ago, i could get a half a cow processed however i wanted and prepped for about 450 bucks man. sometimes it would jump to closer to 600 but most of the time 450-550. those were the days when 4-6lbs of good beef were in my diet dailyOriginally posted by Iron_Gook View PostWhen I lived in Kansas, I use to purchase a half side of grass-fed beef every year. Re: Grassfed Beef
Are you phucking kidding me?!?!?! Holy smokes, that's dirt cheap! I WISH!!! Now, I can't find grass-fed ground beef cheaper than $8-10 per pound! I think the cows are getting 401K and 529 plans! It's ridiculous the price of beef these days -- especially grass-fed.Originally posted by guns01 View Postbefore my butcher shut down 2 years ago, i could get a half a cow processed however i wanted and prepped for about 450 bucks man. sometimes it would jump to closer to 600 but most of the time 450-550. those were the days when 4-6lbs of good beef were in my diet daily
