Re: Heavy's road to recovery log.

heavy did your therapist mention anything to you about doing muscle scrapping/graffing dry needling and internal e stims where your injury was? reason i ask is one i just went through a few months of it myself and it increased my recovery time crazy fast and two a bbing lady from my gym that is on the older side just had her shoulder fixed. she had the same stuff done as i did and it cut her recovery by 3/4 the time it normally takes supp free. may be something to ask about or look for. i couldnt lock my knee out when i hurt it and within 2 sessions i was locking it out and squatting with almost no pain whatsoever.

question.. do squats kill your shoulder with the bar?

My traps are good size so the bar doesn't really rest on my shoulders. They weight doesn't bother them its the stretching the shoulder back that does.

They asked me during PT if I wanted e stims to relax the muscle and to help with pain. But it never really hurt, or it didn't hurt bad enough that I thought it warranted any treatment. I think I am healing at a good rate. If I just wasn't making ground I would ask for something like what you have mentioned, but every day I am able to do more so I will just keep going at it like this for now. Thank you for the information. I had no idea any of that even existed.

Good morning. I got up at 4:30am and ran a mile time was 9:07.00. I shaved about 20 seconds off my time. It was raining the entire time so maybe that gave me a little more pep in my step.
I would like to get my time down to 6:00.0, but that will take some time. See you all this afternoon.

no worries man. the srapping/graffing isnt just for the healing though. it breaks up adheasions and scar tissue that is built up in the area. if loosens up your joints and tendons which in tern increases range of motion pretty significantly. i would say it is more of a prehab/rehab with enhanced recovery. great stuff though for sure

I watched a video of jay cutler getting this massage from a guy a while back. This dude was ripped himself and he was really digging in to jay's lats, and shoulders. Then after he had more range of motion. I wonder if that's kind of the same thing?

very much similar but that is active release therapy i believe. you can do art individually or you can do it with the scrapping/graffing combined. i could tell a night and day difference as the build up in me went away. when she would drag the tools across the muscles and tendons it would make load sounds like bubble wrap popping or rice crispies crackling. after a couple sessions it would be less and less as it got worked out and away. i am a really really flexible dude in my lower body and it gave me 10 degrees more bend in my leg after it was all done. the range of motion is worth it's weight in gold plus the breaking up of the tissue allows for more growth and healthier joints. i am a huge believer in the treatments now man and i highly recommend them

No workout this afternoon. My right arm is really sore. Not my shoulder but my bicep and elbow area. I haven't used it in two months and getting everything moving again is going to take some time.
                  See you all tomorrow.

Thanks baby. This morning I ran the mile, but was sore all over. I can feel every muscle that I have worked today. Time was 9:51.06. I was a little slower because I was hurting, but I will get better you can count on it. Have a great day folks.

Re: Heavy's road to recovery log.

                        Todays workout:

Warm up with bands, medicine ball on the wall.

My shoulder is starting to get stronger, so I decided to bench today.

Bench press: 3x10 65Lbs.(0ne set of 10 warm ups with the bar)

So about my shoulder. I dethatched the largest tendon in my rotator cuff March 24th, I had surgery April 9th. So it hasn't been that long but I am healing up good.

                        Skull crushers: (decline bench) 5x30

Abs 5x20 on the body ball

                        Shoulder shrugs 3x15

I have to go in to work tonight for a few hours, then be back in at 6:30am only for a few more hours. So I will get a mile in the morning see you all then!

I ended up working late last night and coming in very early. so I didn't run. I am pretty beat after this week any way.

This weekend I will rest, then get back at Monday. Have a good weekend everyone.

Re: Heavy's road to recovery log.

Hello every one. It is Sunday. I said I wasn't going to workout until Monday, but I am not sore and I was just sitting on my rear. SO I ran a mile 10:45.06 it was just a nice pace a little slower then I have been, but I was just enjoying it.

Warm ups: Bands inner and outer
Medicine ball wall rotations: Two sets of 50 both directions.

                              Squats: 1x 90Lbs. (warm up) 3x5 275Lbs.

OH BABY it felt good to put some weight on my back. It was only 275Lbs. BUT DAAAAAM it felt good!!

Post workout: 30 minutes of stretching.

                              See you all tomorrow.
