Re: Started my step son in BJJ
Will do! Thanks
I've got to post this as well. My highlight for last night was sparring with a blue belt again. We start from the knees, I step around and trap his leg and take him down but into his half guard. I'll make it short....I transitioned from there, to back where I flattened him out for a bit, to mount, and he was pushing upwards with his arm, so I tried to set up an arm bar and got out of position and he obtained side control which led to north south and he choked me. This was after almost 3 minutes of me controlling.
One other big highlight during this session was this....when I got his back and set my hooks, he was in the back defense position (I call it turtled up), he grabbed my arm and tried to roll me over his shoulder. Well I had been reading the Jiu Jitsu University book earlier in the day where it said this was a big no no. Once he committed, he basically pulled my arm under his chin and as we rolled, I sank in the rear naked...almost! Right when I was about to get my non choking arm behind his head, he reached up with two on one and pulled my arm down, so I couldn't get it. SO SO close!!
This makes two weeks in a row that I have almost gotten a tap from a blue belt! I am super excited about this! All I wanted to do last night was work some defense and escapes that I had been studying up on but I couldn't pass up on the opportunities when they were presented.
Like I said though, he ended up tapping me but I still think I did great. Don't take these statements as being "cocky," I am just super excited that I haven't "YET" gotten just completely owned
Will do! Thanks
