New rules are ruining Football

I watched the first pre season game last night. Almost every play there was a flag for unnecessary roughness. They are ruining football. Its hard to watch. If they keep this up into the season, football will totally suck, its not even the same game anymore.

Isn't football a physical, tough, "no fairies allowed" sport?? The whole sport is based on unnecessary roughness.

It used to be but now they want it to be just like soccer and other european sissy sports. No rough play allowed. Be gentle.

Football and Hockey were the last 2 sports i could actually get into the game whenever it was on at a friend's house, restaurants, etc. It's a shame they are sissying them up. Who can honestly say they dont enjoy watching a wicked hockey check or a bone crushing tackle? From what you guys are telling me it really is going in a flag football direction. STOP KNEELING AND HIT SOMEONE !!

Im trying to stop watching football as much. Its hard to quit since I was raised on it since I was born.Its all Ive ever known, every fall of my life. Every weekend was spent playing and watching football. Now football is part of politics and its being turned into soccer. If helmets are such a problem, why not get rid of them? They need to go back to leather hats

the new helmet down rule is most likely coming from shazeer from last year. it has always been a rule not to hit with the crown of your helmet for as long as i can remember but now they are actually enforcing it. i think that one is a good idea because of spinal injuries but all the other ones are over blown. let the play ball and hit each other.

Will be great when a new football league starts up that has old school football rules. Just knocking the shit out of people. It will be hugely successful because thats what people want to see, until the government steps in and just bans old school football..its happened before ...in 50 years, football wont even be a major sport, only played by people who dont mind brain damage

you pay me 10-20-30mil dollars a year to play an awesome sport that may or may not cause brain damage or i might get hurt in. sign me up cause i am down. the reward def covers the risk

No doubt. They get paid good for it. Football is no more dangerous than UFC . They do it for the spectators. They get paid good money to get their head bashed in. If they want to do it, they shouldnt be denied just because they might get damaged for life. Its their choice.
Too many lawsuits against the NFL, too many attorneys , have pretty much got the NFL running scared.

i will say that youth and college players should be somewhat protected but pro athletes no way. that is about the same as being in the military and trying to sue for being injured in combat.

This is exactly why UFC is cutting into footballs popularity. People pay $ to see violent sports. NFL is totally changing their sport. The old way of playing football is out the door. No more hitting. No more collisions. Just grab grab and grab and try not to be too rough

Football is getting as bad as NASCAR with all the arbitrary rule changes which dumb down the respective sports. This is not going to fill the stands that's for sure.
