Mice love protein bars

Damn, they love protein bars and protein powder. Where I live, field mice are pretty common. I dontr get too many in the house, but the other night, I saw a mouse in the house.
I set traps with peanut butter and nothing happened. So I went and got a detour protein bar and put it on a mousetrap. Within an hour, I heard a snap. Im layin in bed, thinking oh good, the mouse is dead, I will throw it away in the morning. Then I hear the trap being dragged across the floor, obvious the mouse is still alive. So I get up and turn on the light. Mouse is totally alive and barely caught in the trap. Crap. I go outsdide and grab a hoe. I went in and smashed the shit out of that mouse. It squeeled while I was smashing it. Eeek lol I hate those damn things

Just caught a second mouse in a trap with a piece of detour protein bar. Wtf? I need to know the best way to keep mice the hell out of the house! Is poison the best way?Sometimes, it seems like the mice just avoid the dcon

Amazon sells a metal cage style trap. Works every time! U usually don't have to kill them. They have a heart attack and piss themselves before I can get home
