  • First female ranger school graduates

First let me start off by saying if a woman can pass Ranger school without any lowering of the standards I think that is awesome. I don't think combat units should be mixed however for multiple reasons... First and foremost because it's detrimental to the mission and creates distraction.

Now that being said it has already come out that a general acted as a "guest instructor" during the class that these two women are graduating from. He oversaw all failed stations and basically they were allowed to continue until they passed. It has also come out that they announced they were having a presidential visit to the course graduation well before this class even started. I'm sorry but I'm calling bullshit on this and it's a sad day for the military

i have no issue just like gusto as long as the same standards are met but on the other hand just like homosexuals in the ranks i feel like it causes issues and creates an unsafe environment. until you have lived in the close confines of a combat unit or had to deal with the logistical nightmare of dealing with just a plain all male unit then you shouldnt be pushing for the policy of adding more variables into the equation. i have personally worked with females on the front lines in a combat role and just the logistical standpoint was a nightmare not to mention the risk of running extra convoys to rotate them because they needed to be rotated back frequently due to inadequate facilities at the camp we were in. hum, makes a lot of sense doesnt it?

Would a man have been given more than one chance to complete until they passed? If not, like anything, a women should be able to pass the SAME things that a man can in order to complete. I, as a woman, do not believe standards should be lowered just because one is a female, for anything. In the case of the military, or any protective career or force, the tests and challenges should be equal. In all honesty, I think women should be given the chance to achieve things the same, but it is evident that women do not have the physical strength that a man does. Not saying all men are stronger than all women . imo

Agreed bros, Good for a women if she can pass but it makes no sense. Even if they carry the slightest bit of baggage via hygiene or whatever it shouldn't be allowed. It's war!

Kinda reminds me of the movie with Demi Moore. They made it harder on her because she was a woman. But in this case they gave mulligans like they do in golf for bad shots. This aint golf folks. Pass the test or go home. That is fair and seems to work. The US has the best special forces in the world (Israel is pretty bad ass too). Dont fuck up a good system for political correctness. "War is War, it is not a drill, it is how many people I can kill".

I have never been to Ranger school myself baby1 but typically in schools like this there is always a test and one retest. So typically you get two chances. I don't know the exact details but I have it on good authority because of what I do that these two ladies were given multiple chances until they passed in the standards were also lowered. The fact that there was a general as a guest instructor there which quite frankly never happens and that there's a presidential visit makes this whole thing reek of political correctness and pushing an agenda. I agree with you baby like I said if a woman can pass Ranger school without lowering the standards I think that is awesome. But again mixing males and females in combat units is not a good thing. Every single time there was a female located on one of our forward bases One of the team guys always ended up in bed with her. Never failed. Huge mission distractor and detrimental

just saw them talking about the multiple attempts to pass on the news. and yep huge issue with the ladies down range lol. i know a few of my own team mates that were less than disciplined in harms way. i had one do my laundry for me which was nice because i didnt have the time. now that was cool and not because it was a female, it was just nice

Not the same thing but along the same lines. Yoga pants are now being banned in junior highs and high schools in our area partially for the fact that it distracts the boys. I can totally see your point about that in the military

by lowering standards, yes giving multiple tries over and over until they get it is lowering a standard, does a disservice to to people who get one try. i cheapens it.

but with our PC political climate in the USA. why not.

I agree with everyone, I think they should have to follow the same exact criteria in order to pass. This is our military, the best of the best.

I agree with gusto. Its war, theres no room for political correctness bs if someone is trying to kill you. There a time and place for certain things and if you are getting shot at, thats not the time nor place for PC stuff.

So it appears from this article that the physical standards were indeed lowered.... For everyone.... In other words so certain peoe could pass. You have no idea how irate this makes me. The next step is to be mixing special forces units... (FYI the article states that the ranger tab is a "special forces credential".... It is not.... It is a specialization tab and does not get you into any specific unit.... Ranger and special forces units are indeed special operations but simply having a ranger tab does not get you into one of those units)
