  • force on force training

took a class yesterday with how to draw, move and fire your weapon if someone is attacking with a knife. talk about an adrenaline rush. the "bad guy" did a good job goading me to get a reaction then attacked without warning. i moved drew and fired my glock 17 fitted with a UTM simunitions.

shot him in the chest and then once when he was down. do not remember any of it. i just reacted without thought.

if you carry i recommend a course very highly. God forbid you ever have to use your pistol it really puts the odds in your favor

i freaking love that type of training jipped. i have done all kinds of cool courses. probably the one that really set home the importance of mastering the principles was engaging each other from concealed. it really drives home he who masters and practices the fundementals is he who walks away from the gunfight. the fastest draw isnt always the winner is the moral of that story haha. not to mention not knowing when an engagement will take place. man you just motivated the crap out of me

i have taken a marksmanship course, just the basic's ,grip, breathing and trigger control, but it tightened up my groups a lot, they are going to do a combat course once they (local range) can figure out how to do it safely. i am all into self defense shooting, their will be no auroa co. in a theater i am in if i have anything to say (my 1911 speaks)

training is so important. if you commit something to muscle memory you are far less likely to mess it up when it is life or death

you got that right man. i got into an engagement with a dude in the open area between streets. i mean i was wide open and my first round fired and then click, i continued to close while performing immediate action between every shot. i didnt realize what i was doing until after the engagement had ended and i thought to myself damn that was both cool and stupid at the same time haha

i would just poo my pants if someone was shooting at me for real. i wonder how i will fare when i take level two and the guy is shooting back at me. it's good the simunitions hurt.

Man I totally agree, I think everyone who carries should invest in some type of tactical training. Regularly going to the range is one thing, but tactical training like that where you are put in stressful environments and situations could be the difference between life and death. Many people don't know how they would react in a certain situation and that's almost scarier than the situation itself. Everyone carries to protect their own life, but that additional tactical training will train people how to react under pressure, which increases the safety of any bystanders that may be around during an altercation.

I just noticed this post. Jipped genes who did you take this class with. Theres a couple forcenon force classes local to me tbat use simunitions, but I dont know the trainer. I try to stick with trainers I know by reputation, and name. I know theres excellent trainer I have never heard of, but I would hate to pay for a class from a crappy trainer. Then the next class I need to unlearn bad habits I learned from an eaier class.

Im pretty lucky where I live, withing a 4 hour radius I have access to some of the best trainers available.

Great training! Perishable skills training and stuff like this makes or breaks you when you don't have time to think and need to react!

I live in a communist state west of the freedom loving state you live in. I just live so far north most people dont realize it exists. If my area was in the same vacinity as you, you would be out here regularly im sure.

getting shot in the hands and fingers sucks big time. i have freaking scars haha. that's a good indicator that your students are applying the fundementals though and aiming and shooting center mass
