    Tough as nails

    People just arent as tough as they used to be. I had to take my wife's grandpa to the ER today. He fell and broke his thumb so bad it was cut to the bone and bent almost completely backwards.

    He is a WW2 vet and they stuck a needle right into his thumb to numb it and he didnt say a word flinch or anything.

    I'm so glad my grandparents raised me with their kind of values. I hope i got at least a little toughness passed down to me from that generation.

        Eventually, if there isn't deep integrity and fundamental character strength, the challenges of life will cause true motives to surface and human relationship failure will replace short-term success.

        There is an idea of who I am: some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me; only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel my flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable, I simply am not there.

          Animal, that generation of men is like no other My Dad is so like that and never heard him complain. He still carries his pocket knife and uses it to dig out or cut anything on him, if needed ,lol. He even uses it to cut his fingernails.

                  oh yeah. my grandpa would always say "rub some dirt on it and get out of the house"

                  when my kid was little my wife would put a bandaid on everydamn booboo my son had even if it did not require a bandaid.

                  luckily we went fishing a lot and he stopped asking for bandaids as i told him to rub some dirt on it and put your bait in the water

                    I couldnt agree more. My great grandfather was shot multiple times in WW2 and pushed on leading his unit to complete the mission. He was the toughest person I have ever met in my life and if i can find the strength to be half as tough as him I will be happy. Sadly our country has come to raise our children as sissies. Guns, fighting and having a pair of balls (figurativly not literally for the woman) is a bad thing. Running away, hiding and calling someone else to handle your bad situations has become the standard.
                    I never meant to be better than anyone, I was just born that way. Its hard being a god amongst peasants!
