  • My old running buddy

Found some pix of my old friend today. Spent 10 great years with the guy. He was a beast of a dog weighing in at about 200 lbs at his biggest. He was truly the best dog I have ever seen. As you can see he used to back his big butt up onto the couch. I really think he thought he was a human.image.jpgimage.jpg

He was indeed a gentle giant. English mastiffs are such an awesome breed of dog.

That's a very weird trait for the breed. Bull Mastiffs and Neos tend to be more aggressive. I guess any dog breed can be violent. I never even heard my old boy growl except for once and that was when a neighbors dog came at my sister and Max (you see where I got the name now) wasn't having it. He used to do this weird thing and stand in front of you and just lean into you like he was taking some weight off his legs. Well thats what he did... He got in front of my sister and ended up chasing the other dog off. First and last time I ever saw him have a temper. Max was raised around kids too... They would ride him around and pull on his droopy cheeks. He would just lay there and wag his tail.
