  • cussing in public

I was out with my son and these two young guys standing in line waiting for food were cussing and carrying on and trying to sound tough. My son is 16 and hears (probably says the same stuff) So i did not say anything.

but when my boy was little I would ask folk to cut it out. it was so crazy people would be offended that I did not want my little boy to hear that language. Almost got into a fight with a trashy woman and her late teen son once over asking them politely not to curse in front of my kid and several others at the fair.

they all say freedom of speech in that ignorant way dumb people do. you know................

is it just me? does this bother anyone else?

I think is a lot of bull to curse in public like that it's just in bad taste disrespectful and ignorant of the guys I would have given them a reason to cuss like a broke nose or busted knee cap u know a mans reason to cuss not just because it sounds cool. If anyone cussed like that infront of my mom or wife I would not know what to do except ask them to be respectful of others and ask god to bless me with patience

i will be the first to tell you that i have a seriously foul mouth. i worked around some of the nastiest loudest rudest craziest men on the planet for an entire career. now with that said i have situational awareness and i try my best not to drop any unpleasant words around women or children and if one does slip out and it does happen i will immediately appologize to them.
i have had several occasions myself were i have had to ask people to watch their mouths around my wife and kids. i may drop some nasty laungauge in front of my family but they are my family. most of the time they will knock it off but i have had to threaten people a time or two. never had to get physical because when i start to get loud they will normally back down, that and i have the ability to take their id cards or write down a special number on their vehicles and report them to their bosses. and yes i have done that on a few occasions as well

I've tried to break that habit for a long time. I can remember to watch my mouth in front of children and old people, but I usually dont even realize I've cursed around other people.

              Re: cussing in public

I think it's disrespectful to do it loudly in public. If your not trying to be loud then I don't think it's as big of a deal, but if they are loud about it and it's constant than it drives me crazy

                Re: cussing in public

When I was young and stupid I used the f-word as an adverb or adjective until one day I heard a tape recording of how I sounded. I stopped that day and if I swear now it is to add emphasis to what I am saying or joking around. The F-word is a verb anyway.

                  Re: cussing in public

I don't personally like it either. My mom brought me up to not talk that way.. Sometimes ever so often those words sneak up on me but out in public I don't cuss. Anyone talking loud or cussing I have to ask them to stop because of my daughter and plus it makes me feel uncomffy so I can imagine how children feel when they hear it. If they don't stop then I just walk away .

I have a HORRIBLE mouth. I try to cut back in certain places and on here but man I swear a lot. I will say though if your being completely loud and obnoxious about it even I will say something. I woudlnt want my kids hearing that either. I have told people to watch their mouth around other peoples kids.
I will say though coming from my generation I dont watch my language as much around woman as much as I should.
I never meant to be better than anyone, I was just born that way. Its hard being a god amongst peasants!

yep, is is about respect. cussing around little ones shows no respect for them or their folks.
