"Google it"

Am I the only one that believe when someone says this it's pretty rude and almost is the new "F u".

So say you ask said person a question and they reply "google it". Seems to have become an affront in our culture.

Movies and shows always use it in a negative tone now also.

Just had someone I'm not getting along with needing to meet for an event and I had no idea where it is. I got the "google it" response. Would rather they just said f u c k you.

What do you think?

Lol! In the context you laid out I see your point. I am guilty of using this expression with my wife, however it usually comes after I've tried explaining something to her and she doesn't quite get it. I place the blame on myself and my intent is to have her google it for a better explanation.

Yea using it that way is disrespectful. Only time that is appropriate is if you dont know how to explain what you are saying to someone.

Sounds like the person you were talking to was just an a-hole. Everyone I know uses that phrase and it isn't ever meant to be condescending or as a blow off.
