LOL, it all tied together bro. Christian conservatives are pragmatists which only endorse liberal (extreme) pragmatism. Just like moderate faith endorses extreme faith. The worlds problems are philosophical, we can't educate people on logical politics without first explaining that logic is superior to faith and should be the only standard. If faith is the standard, pragmatism and chaos are the result; it not only compartmentalizes our minds, we compartmentalize our politics.

Come on, you think I'm confused? How could I be confused and as precise and articulate as I am? I have had the benefit of having both perspectives and I can assure you, the mind works much more efficiently when you use it in a manner consistent with reality. I was confused when i was a theist and I'm proud of myself for finding my way out of that fog - it's a very difficult task.

The main reason I posted that was how would you feel about your wife or children if they got sick or hurt.If you dont beleive in god then what would you do to help them.See if its difficult why found your way out when beleiving in something is so much better then not to beleive in something

For religion to control people; first people have to submit to the irrational ideas of others. That's all religion is. People surrender their own mind for an irrational philosophy that is justified with faith. Yeah, people in power exploit this but how do you exploit a people committed to reason? With an equal exchange of compensation? In other words capitalism? LOL It's philosophical. I mean why are our politicians irratioanl? They sacrifice long term success for the instant gratification of "doing" something.

Compartmentalizing. We have scientists/engineers that commit to reason at work and then go home discard reason for faith. We have people who push the ideas of government mandated minimum wage and health care but then wonder why American industries are moving off shore? The examples go on and on. This is pragmatism and it cannot survive in a rational society and it leads to statism. It's ironic to see how much conservatives hate statism but they won't pick up the one weapon that would annihilate it, because it would also destroy their faith. Liberals hate religion but they won't pick up the one weapon that would destroy it because it would destroy their hopes of statism.

This makes me think of the guy who went mountain climbing and fell in to a crevasse.

He was dangling off the end of his rope when his hiking partner cut him loose.
The guy fell and broke his legs and body up pretty bad when he finally landed on a ledge in the darkness.

Long story short - he had to go further into the mountain in order to get out. He did.

The thing is he was a practicing Catholic or some religion but like Klash moved away and was now and atheist.
He specifically said - he often thought after turning away from his upbringing what he may do in a critical situation - would he revert back to praying to God or would he stay steadfast and logical.

After he got out of the mess he was interviewed and said this.
He also said that while he was lying there and wondeirn gwhat step to take next, never did it cross his mind to pray and ask for help.
He simply reasoned with himself and went deeper into the crevasse to later emerge.

Is that true? Did he really pray and ask for help? Did he give up all belief as he claimed and got himself out of the situation?

Truthfully, we'll never know as we'll never know what anyone really thinks.
But he claims that faith and praying to God never even crossed his mind and that just reaffirmed his position that being an atheist was indeed the right choice for him.
