They spoke to a few Obama voters in South Carolina this morning. One woman said she's voting for Obama because he's black. Another woman said she's voting Obama because he said he wants to bring the troops home and she knows some families that have family members over in Iraq and they want them home, so that's why she's voting for him.
Very witty bunch, those Obama supporters seem to be.
You should watch yourself. Some things are more important to people than others. Everyones view on things are different. The people of this country don't have to view things through your eyes. THANKFULLY.
Our current presidant has caused many of these somewhat petty reasons for voting for someone new. They realize we will be doomed if someone gets in that remotely shares the views of dictator bush. He has already given us a huge mountain to climb.
Am I wrong to think that it's not the smartest thing to vote for someone solely because of the color of their skin? If a voter doesn't look at the big picture. Where candidates stand on issues and their voting records, but just votes for one single quality or statement made by the candidate. Does that sound wise to you? And what do you mean 'the people of this country don't have to view things through my eyes THANKFULLY'? You have no idea what I see, much less how I view things.
I apologize if I offended you. Of coarse that was not my intension of this thread.
There are too many important issues in any campaign for someone to justify their vote with just one reason. Vote for him because he's black (he's kind of black I guess) - that is a joke, and I can't believe someone would even say that. Vote for someone because they promise to bring the troops home? Ok, but tell me how you plan to do it. Its easy to say, and just as easy to really screw up an entire region of the world by doing it the wrong way - or without forsight. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but has anyone actually said they want us to stay there forever? Its a fact that everyone would like to pursue some kind of exit strategy. So that remark is shallow, in the simplest of terms.
I'll tell you what - here is the reason I will NOT vote for Obama. He is certainly smart, and posesses impressive rhetorical skill. But all he does is try to start sh!t with the other candidates (and no I am not endorsing Hillary). Furthermore, we now all know what he does not like, and what he will not do . . . but what is HIS plan, and what does HE stand for? He is not shy about separating himself from others, but he has not otherwise distinguished himself, and he has not given anyone a legitimate reason to vote for him. He appears to be kind of a jerk.
The media is spinning it towards color I think. He was being interviewed and they asked him about how he hopes to win black voters and he said something to the fact that hes after all votes.
I think since he is the first black man to run for president the media focuses on that that just like clinton being the first women to run, the media focuses on her "trying to win women voter"
If people vote just on the skin color or gender then obviously they are just ignorant imo. They should be focusing on issues, policies that are being brought up.
i wouldnt vote for anyone in the CFR, they answer to a higher "govt", plus he already wants war with pakistan not to mention higher taxes and bigger govt, no thanks..im not suprised if some people vote for obama or even romney bc of how they look, the majority (sadly) of americans don't pay attention to politics and therefore end up voting based on a few circumstances..The primary is so important and id be suprised if 10% of Americans vote in it..its our own fault we always end up with an idiot/puppet in the office.
WELL A PERSON SHOULD VOTE FOR THE BEST CANIDATE PERIOD. NOT BY COLOR

WTF? I'm not a supporter of republicans or democrats but horse is right? how ignorant to make a decision on color or one single issue...that is what puts people in the house everytime. Every president has done good and bad things its politics man. It sucks. Its not for the people. It has nothing to do with the average citizen. But your statement is just as ignorant. Go vote for Obama, I guarantee there will be just as many issues with him as with Bush. Thats how it is our country is to big to satify everyone.
I wish we could have another Abe Lincoln, some selfless soul who was born to lead. But it will never happen cause Abe Lincoln had no money. Its all about power and money. Until there is massive tragedy in this world setting us back we will never see leaders like Abe again.
food for thought, and theres more where that came from

If you read my post I agreed that voting for someone for those reasons was petty. There are far to many issues that need to be addressed to worry about race or voting for a women because your a women.
I never said I back Obama, I never remotely said who I back. I'm not sure what I said that was ignorant also.
People will always see things differently. That's why I usually won't post in this forum because people are to sensitive about alot of these issues. I am one of those. I don't try and push my beliefs but I see you are more than eager.

No offense, Actually I just didn't sleep well last night and should have read your post again before replying at all.
