Using the Atom bomb to end the war in Japan was, in hindsight, one of if not the most humane way to end the war.

The real question is did we need to drop two bombs. That you might debate. The common story that I`ve heard from people who know things is that we dropped the first one to show the Japanese that the war was over. Simply put the new technology could kill YOUR ENTIRE POPLUATION. Time to capitluate with honor.

The second bomb was dropped (according to many) to tell the Russians that we could duplicate this tech and use it if they tried anything in Europe. Bear in mind at this time the Russian military forces in Europe were MASSIVE, way more powerful than the western Allies combined. That plus Stalin was evil so of course he only respected the language of power.

So the question to debate, if you wish do debate it at all is this. If we dropped the first bomb to knock Japan out of the war. Did we have to drop the second one IN JAPAN to educate the Russians? Could we instead have dropped it in the Pacific with Russian observers? THAT is the question.

And one more thing, if the Iraqis were able to bomb the US right now. It would not be terrorism because this "insurgency" we keep hearing about on the news is actually a "war". War is war, and in war people get bombed. Terrorism is a term our media uses to try and downgrade the image of the enemy. Pisses me off. Yeah, their style of war is different - it seems to give us some trouble frankly. The Vietnamese had a different style too, we called that Terrorism too but wat was Vietnam if not a war?
Ahhh, very smart guy! We think alike, with logic!

Also, i am not pissed at US for using the atom bomb...i just dont agree that , the us, the only country that has shown they would use such a weapon are allowed to have a nuke, but Korea cant.

First off, Bin Laden and Al-Quada declared war against the us quite a few years ago....so does the twin towers count as an act of war or terrorism.....it is terrorism plain and simple.IN ANY WAR IF YOUTARGET CIVILIANS IT IS AN ACT OF TERRORISM!!!Sure ther is always going to be civilian casualties, but to blatentley kill civilians, is wrong and not allowed by the geneva conventions, or any other UN sanctions...

And another thing, Vietnam was not a war...it was a conflict

Tell that to the Veterans. You can pick apart these issues all day long to help yourself prove a point, but the bottom line is that its all war, terrorism is a tangent from this to provoke the next move on the battlefield. The world has always been at war. Humans have always been at war with each other, from small street gangs to large conventional armies.

In any war if you target civilians it is an act of Terrorism? How you define the term "Terrorism" isn`t interesting to me. War is war. We kill you + you kill us = war. IMO. This is the current state of affairs, is it not?

                  Vietnam was not a war?

Hell, in all of the material i had to study in the military to test for nco, it was called the vietnam conflict....not taking anything away from any vet...that is just what it was...no war was declared, therefore it was a conflict

LOL, way to change the subject there!

First off, I didn't blame anything on Tony Blair but thanks for putting words in my mouth. Second, I never said Bush's family didn't have anything to gain. Third, I clearly said that the intel of WMD came from England, that's it. Why you insist on going off on this other rant for no reason I have no idea. But, I would like to hear your response to your facts on history. You said the US invaded/controlled more countries than anyone else? Well? Where did you get that piece of info? Or, the info that millions and millions of people died from the atom bomb?

Now you're just getting frivalous with terms. War is war, no matter how you look at it. I dont need some professor or text book to tell me how to interpret thousands of people killing one another. Sip your beer or guzzle it, regardless you're going to get drunk after awhile.

i never said the US 'controlled" any countries...I said they "occupied" which they have many times. everytime they occupy a nation, yeah there are people that want us there and think we are helping them....but many others in the country dont want us there the saudies didnt want us there...the govt did...but the people...NO. Bosnia....the citizens didnt want us there either....Panama? nope.....Yugoslovia.....them either...and Iraq sure as hell dont want us there..
I was using the term millions as the number of people killed loosely...like saying "you have tons of money"..There was lots of people killed thats all i know.no need to get all worked up avbout it.
