it is supply and demand, at one time only the US had a huge demand for oil, but now india and china are competing with us for oil......hence demand is up supply is down, price goes up

Gas consumption has risen steady even with the increase in prices. As long people here and abroad continue to prove that they are willing pay the price, the price will rise until a market equlibrium occurs

Blame Bush for a lot of things, but gas price is not one of them. Sure we may pay a few cents more becasue of the Iraq war, but it is little compared to the whole picture.

Ask yourself why the sudden increase over the past week. Was it Bush? No. The king of Saudi died and their is uncertainty in their political system. If the Saudi's stopped pumping oil to us the whole market would crash becasue there simply would be no supply
How is it that we take over an oil rich country and our gas prices go up??? Again like I said before if anything they should have atleast stayed the same. Plus I highly doubt that Bush is innocent on this.

Ok, obviously SE has the only economics intelligence so far. First off Digg, we didn't "take over" an oil rich country. Second, OPEC sets the rules and regulations for oil prices. PERIOD! OPEC is made up of several oil producing countries and the US is one of the lowest producing ones on the list. Therefore, we have no say so what so phukin ever in oil prices. There way to high demand for the supply. Now, the funny part. The reason we have so little supply is because of all the phukin cry baby liberal morons who refuse to allow the US to drill for our own oil and who also refuse to allow the US to build more refineries. There are a limited number of refieries. PERIOD! So, next time you point a finger at a Republican for gas prices you are actually pointing three at the true problem, Democrates. Republicans have pushed and pushed and phukin pushed for more refineries and the ability to drill for oil on our own land, but these pansy ass Democrates stop it everytime. So, the reason, and the only reason, we are paying high gas prices is because of Democrates.

You ought to actually do a little research before you draw conclusions. Then atleast your argument will have a leg to stand on.

PS- if your job is in jeopardy because gas is up 10 to 15% then you need a better job. I drive all damn day doing my job and I don't have any problems paying any of my bills. My gas budget has only increased about 10-15%. If your lifestyle can't handle a small increase like that then that's your fault, not Bush's. I like you bro (I swear on that), but I can't stand people who blame all there problems on someone else. This is the United States of America and in this country the only people who dont make it are the ones who don't want to make it. 50 years ago 50% of the countries millionaires were self made. Today, 80% of the countries millionaires are self made. Hell, my portfolio jumped 31% in the last 12 months. There is no way anyone can convince me this country is not thriving.

Damn 007! You make a good argument. What i don't like is when these ppl with the SUV's and gass guzzlers complain. Its like, if you don't like the gas prices then why did you buy a vehicle that guzzles gas, lol! If you can't afford it then sell the damn thing and buy a hybrid.

No way this country is thriving. No way....there needs to be some changes, im tired of people living off the fucking system and just pumping babies out like its a job so they can get a bigger check, how fucking low is that lol, among other things but its def. not thriving.

worst yet, I saw this guy complaining about gas one time(around $2.25 at the time), then he walked inside and bought a $3 cup of coffee. Now how much is that per gallon for some coffee.........i

Yes, I agree 100%. It's like chopping off your hand and then complaining because no one will help you carry stuff. Duh? You put yourself in that situation so stop crying about it.

It's the same old reactive vs proactive mind set. So many people go through life reacting to it as if they have no control and yet there is this other group who is proactive and no matter what happens they accel. Did you know there were a lot of people making millions during the depression? Instead of getting on the "woa is me" band wagon the took advantage of the opportunities life gave them. I personally don't believe in luck. Luck to me is nothing more than preparation meeting opportunity. That's it. If you go through life prepared then you will capitilize on life's opportunities. Plain and simple.

Still not convinced. Everyone I know is making money. Housing construction is up, homeownership is up, unemployment is down, taxes are down, stocks are making money. The only people not thriving are those in the wrong places. I'm sorry to say that but it's true. If I was a corn farmer and no one was buying corn I wouldn't cry about the economy. I'd find another product to farm. End of story.

The Latte factor. I read about that in "Smart Couples Finish Rich". People who complain they have no extra money but they spend all this money on items they could prepare themselves at a fraction of the price. Or, they spend all their money trying to keep up with the Jones'.

Im 24yo and middle class and independant still going to school and single and they take about 35 percent or more of my money that I make then turn around and give it to bottom feeders that have no ambition in life then tax the fuck out of everything we do, its ridiculous and slowly keep taking more privacies and liberties with scare tactics, thats fuckikng sad that people fall for that shit. Maybe its just im young and not used ot this bullshit, i dunno for sure, but things are fucked up and alot of people feel that way.

You are right, things aren't perfect. But it sure as hell beats being born in Russia, China or most other countries. Tell me, where else would you go? What other country offers you as much as this one? And another thing, if you think 35% is a *****, just imagine what Captain Flip-Flop would have jacked it up to with his Socialist approach to running this country. In his approach the government pays for medical insurance. Where the hell do you think that money comes from? Our taxes. How is that going to work? Higher taxes on everything.

To be honest with you im going to be a pharmacist so im not worried about finding a high paying job when im done. A bachelors degree doesnt hardly do shit anymore for u and the people who either didnt have the luxury of going to college or were unable to or just didnt want to are the ones that are really suffering. Im not personally but i live in WV and i see alot of it, people who want to work cant because there arent jobs, its depressing. Ill be so glad when im done with school and be so far away from here its not even funny but alot of people dont have the luxury to just up and move to where the corn is, thats just not logical for alot of people.

Bro ive never said one time i didnt like the USA but there are obvious things that need to be addressed and it just isnt happening and its really frustrating. Also i never said i didnt like bush thats who i voted for, i just wish they would address internal problems for a change. If this country is thriving why are we so in debt? We are spending unheard amounts of money on bullshit, instead of putting it into education and something constructive. Our education system is a fucking joke. They just keep taking more and more and nobody cares because they get their fix of reality tv or monday night football and think its all great. When are they going to start doing something to benefit the people and not large corporations and you cant even say thats not the case

I agree with you 007 for the most part. If you have the entrepreneurial spirit and the drive you can succeed, and of course it would depend on what market you are going into. There are some ppl that are a prisoner of their own mind though. I have seen it very early. The guy who has the good ideas, or has the "know how" but he is always bucking the issues or making excuses. Im sure you've met this person at some point. Also, if you are in the over 40% bracket, and you apply yourself, it even gets easier to capitolize. The hard part is when you are just beginning, and that is when you need the most discipline. I do believe there are fewer blue collar jobs and the newly created ones are paying less and with fewer benefits. In todays market, you def need to have a college education in a field that has alot of opportunity for growth and that yields a steady monetary advancement that keeps up with inflation if you want to retire comfortably.
