Cipher, whay were you baptised twice??? If you were baptised as a catholic does that mean weren't baptised in the eyes of God?? And if you were baptised before the eyes of God as a catholic why be baptised again as a "born again" christian??

You were only born once, and were given one body, one soul, and one life. God has seen your good deed of baptisim before his very eyes and saw you washed away of sin and has made a place for you in his house even though you were only a child.

TO be baptised again will do what for you? Is it a requirement for you to be baptised into your new congrigation or belief?

Why in the doesn't the bible say anything about multiple baptisms of any one man there or woman or child?

Because as a Christian, you are supposed to be saved before Baptism. At a Christening they say welcome your new brother in Christ. I believe some Catholics will not be going to heaven because they base their salvation on works. This is not correct. It says in the bible " ye must be born again". Getting saved is not preached in the Catholic church or atleast not any one ive been too. I used to be a Catholic for along time. I think they have too many man made laws that are NOT in the bible. I believe my first baptism, communion, confirmation etc meant nothing. My 2nd baptism after accepting Christ as my personal saviour means everything.

I was taught that baptism was meant to be a public profession of faith in God meant to symbolize Christ's death, burial, and resurection. I've always understood baptism to be purely symbolic. HOWEVER, there are verses in the bible that appear to say that baptism is a necessesity for entrance to heaven.... Churches have split on this issue but to me it has never been important enough... The bible says get baptised. So do it... I would venture to say that the reason Ciph got baptised again is that "most" prodestant faiths baptise adults. It is generally believed (amongst prodestants) to be a public profession of faith like I mentioned earlier. They would argue that babies can't make a profession of faith. Therefore, after Ciph would have accepted Jesus into his heart, he would have wanted to get baptised ON HIS OWN DECISION to let people know of his life decision. How close am I ciph?
Right on the money esta!!I believe there is no minimum age other than to be old enough to understand what you are doing to get baptised.

I have alot of problems with the Catholic faith because they preach on a works based salvation. Works mean nothing unless your saved. After your saved, works determine your rewards in heaven.

I can respect your belief Cipher. There is no way in to heaven by works. It is all in the belief and faith in God and what you have done to please him through your heart.

How many of us say we are saved and still not following the laws of God???

A just man will sin seven times in one day, so the scripture has written. It is a constant battle to be ritcheous in the eyes of God, we all know that. Wether baptism is done as an infant, child adult or even on the death bed, the battle for living God's law is going on every waking moment of out lives. I do believe I am saved in the eyes of God, but it is my decisions as a believer in christ that will earn me a seat next to Him on the day of judgement.

I guess its diferent strokes for different folks you could say. I hope that no matter what we choose to do here on this earth that gets us right with the Lord it will surely get us up there!!!!

Its hard not hard to be saved.

                1. Know that we are sinners.
                2. Know the wages of sin is death.
                3. Know that Jesus paid that debt by dying on the cross for our
                sins.
                4. Ask God to forgive you of your sins and be Lord and Saviour
                in your life.

Also dont forget Jesus, people who beleive there is God but no Jesus will end up in the Lake of Fire.

If you meant these things then your are saved. Bible says you are a new creature in Christ.

Also, Baptism, confirmation, First Holy Communion, etc etc will not get you into heaven or keep you out of heaven.

                    • well first things first, my brother is a reborn christain, and he looks down on me like if i am some kinda piece of scum on this earth, and this is the same guy that tried to kill my dad, and after he got arrested that same night he blamed my dad, i know not everyone is like this, but i know he is fake, and he is the last one that i want spreading the word of god to me, second you might remember that i got my children baptised because my grandmother told me too, now i am not a firm believer in organized religion and i believe that i can get the same relationship with jesus and god in the comfort of my own home as most of the hipocrits in church.............now thats just my opinion, so go ahead and flame away

You are correct, you dont technically need to go to church to be saved. Its not a prerequisite to get into heaven. However, it does say to not forsake the assembly of God with others and that assembly makes it easier to be/stay saved in my opinion. When you dont fellowship with other saved people, you go back to the ways of the world. As far as your brother, im sorry hes a hipocrit, but its not for us to judge him. God will judge us all someday.

                        • Man, I'm getting a late start on this thread.
One of my favorite quotes regarding religion is

"Question with boldness even the existence of God; because if there be one, He must approve the homage of Reason rather than that of blindfolded Fear."-Thomas ****erson

The bible says we are to serve, obey and fear god. Now, no matter how you take that, spending an eternity with god doesn't sound like heaven. Sounds like slavery and eternal slavery, to me, sounds more like hell. Maybe thats why Lucifer rebelled (just a thought)

One of my christian friends who tries to convert me. Brought me 'Evidence that Demands a Verdict' and told me the author was a former atheist who tried to disprove the Bible and got saved. I thought this book might throw an object viewpoint on the Bible. It was about as objective as Cipher (no insult intended, Cipher )

                          1Corinthians 14:33 (kjv)
For God is not [the author] of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
(If this is a correct translation why is there so many damn interpretations over simple shit, like getting into heaven and so many seemingly contradictions.)

Matthew 1:16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

Luke 3:23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was [the son] of Heli.
