Don't get my wrong - the Bible is the ultimate source that we today need....but the Q is just one source that scholoars have used to prove the genuinity of some of the books of the Bible and that the events did occur.

do these scholars prove that the events within the Gospels actually happened? or that the Gospels were real documents written by actual witnesses?

i ask this b/c anyone can write anything about anything. doesnt make it fact.

LB....I would really have to read more about it - don't know for sure - but from what I gathered from what I read.....it is basically like any other historical document - such as George Washington to Thomas ****ereson etc.....you know what I mean?

Like....can you honestly say you know for a definite FACT - that George Washington existed? I feel it's the same thing - you only have paintings of him and stories about him....now....I know there is a signature - but did you see him sign the document? I know it is totally different - but it's kinda the same thing, don't you think??

Jesus was a huge part of history as well....that is why I was comparing the two....but the point was that you have never seen him....you have just heard about him - so what is the difference from saying that I know Jesus is real or I know George Washington was real - the only way that you know George Washington was what you have heard not seen right??

Trust me....I am not qualified to answer your questions....I just wanted to suggest a book that could answer the question about proof that the Bible was factual events

maybe GW wasn't the best analogy but the same concept

That is one of the many reasons I am not fond of organized religions because there are so many people that cannot think for themselves (that churches pray on) and when they get involved with religion they take it waaay too far. They become brainwashed in a sense...like Waco's Whacko's!

I now you are definitely not one of those people Ciph, you would be more the Mr. Koresh of the group...j/k.

And what is fact based on? What we can sense, or see, smell, touch, and conceive with our mind on what is calculated by our sciences. Like our reality exists only in our abilty to sense and reason. There is no fact that defines the beginning or the end. If God is the Alpha and the Omega: "The beginning and the End", we for sure will not know until we have reached that point. There is no beginning and no end just eternity, if you believe.

If god is the begining and then end, then he is everything. If he is everything... we are a part of that. God is everywhere you look, in flowers, in stones, in a pack of cigerettes on the ground... Even inside of us. We are all part of a devine energy that simply exists. The great I am. weather you choose to label it christianity, buddhisim, islam, is unimportant. It is however important to note that buddah, jesus, and mohamad were all great teachers, and unfortunately, because of the great works they were able to do through their unique ability to percieve things as they actually are... they have spawned groups of followers who have distorted the teachings which they have tried to bestow on everyone.

Of course that's just my opinion, i could be wrong

I have more books for everyone -- More than just a Carpenter .... the sister book to The Case for Christ is The Case for Faith .... and there is one other one .... what was the name of it .... oh yeah, EVIDENCE THAT DEMANDS A VERDICT .... I talked to my pastor and these were the books he suggested.

If you are trying to decide which one to get .... Evidence that Demands a Verdict was the first one he suggested.

I hope all of this helps

And by the way....we are talking about how to prove he was real....well....can anyone PROVE he isn't?? Just a thought.

I believe the Bible is the best book to read. Provides answers to all your questions.
