Yes, that is correct. There is a verse in revelation that states why it is good not to have so many versions and translations.Originally posted by mick-G
I heard the King James Version of the Bible is the most accurate?
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

I am a Roman Catholic. I believe in God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost. I also believe that any religion, ANY RELIGION that get you right with God from the heart and soul first will work its way through to your mind and allow you to live a spirtual life with God. What ever get you closer to him is your choice and only you can answer for your misdeeds in the end. I have NEVER, and will NEVER push catholisim onto any one and I would never tolerate any one to push a religion on to me. I am however, open hearted and minded to learn how others practice and believe. And believe me, I question my own church sometimes as well as other religions to LEARN, not to condemn. I can't judge you or what you do. All I can do is pray for you and hope you find the guiding light to be close with YOUR God, who ever it may be.
I will die for my religion and will teach my morals to my young. My wife and I are believers in Christ and God and are presntly trying to find new and better ways to have God in our daily life.
I know I am a sinner, so I will not be the first to cast the first stone unto some one else. My goal is to pull the plank out of my eye before I can help pull the splinter out of some one else's

I have a question for you all. Can you all please go to the 1st page to post 27 and read it. Then go to Page 2 to post 20 and read that. IS it me or is their some contradiction??????
If it is stated in the first post that if no one knows or believes in God they will go to hell, then it is later stated that when David's son died David was told he will see his son in heaven.
I doubt the child could count the fingers on his hand much less know that there was a God. With that being said why would it be stated that for those who don't know Jesus or God (at that time) will go to hell.
I need some major clarification on this one for me.

Well, God bless you DOA bro! I think what the bible is trying to say, without having went back to read those pasages is, that the innocence of a child is always granted salvation, while an adult or a person who knows of God and chooses not to believe will surely be damned to hell for eternity. Their are also people who are written into the Book of Life, that are pre-ordained to an afterlife in damn nation. Although, this seems to be unjust to some, it is the word of the Lord. Also. go to www.jesus-is-lord.com/kingjame.htm you will find the answer to the new bible that King James wanted. He was a noble King.

That is simply not true, but it is however what pretty much every Catholic person believes. Jesus got baptised as a man, and so do most Christians. I was baptised in the Catholic faith as a baby and baptised as a born again Christian about 2 years ago.Originally posted by swift

I'm pretty sure the catholics believe, if a child is not baptized and pass away they go to purgatory. Same way with not making your confirmation, i think.Originally posted by swift

Not sure Estan? You know how the catholic doctrine changes..lol. I know they have done away with some saints. Most catholics that are in their 30's and up, i believe have been taught to believe in puragatory in catechism, if brought up in catholic school.

Yes as a catholic a child is born with a vineal sin. As a catholic belief all children are born with a vineal sin (a small sin). My best explanation to this would be because of Adam and Eve. Adam's punishment for eating from the fruit of knowledge was to labor in the fields all the days of his life instead of having God above provide for him. Eve's punishment was to have pain in labor. Since then we have all been born with imperfection. Adam and Eve were made from God and thus made perfect.
Yes, catholics do believe in purgatory. The way to get out is by prayer. I always pray for family, friends, and ALL those who have passed on where ever they may be to find peace and a way to heaven. I know that there is no way to get from hell to heaven. But by prayer for those in purgatory they can hopefully find a way to heaven. I pray for all the departed souls, saints, and for God himself.

I was brought up in the Catholic beleifs (before Vatacan II), were you don't eat meat on Friday (that and is done to humble yourself and to remember the less fortunate who can not afford a luxery as that), I instead eat fish and fast for part of the day. At the time of way long ago meat was a very precious comodity for those who could afford it. For others it was a very special thing to have and were most times forced to eat just bread, fish and maybe some lamb if that was available. In other words, It helps me humble myself to know that I am no different than any man just like you guys here, even though we all look different.
Catholics have many rules and yes it has changed over time. Cannan law had a powerful influence over what books where to be put into the bible. Read or try and find the book of Enoch or look for lost books of the bible that were left out.
The SOng of Solomon is a wonderful love story that is in the bible which talks ver explicitly about the love of his queen and the love of her king from the physical attraction to love making and all that good stuff. I ask all of you to check it out some time, you'll be suprised about some of the things that were written long ago.
