My Mustang got hit the lady merged into my lane. Got the report and it says my fault. I had a dash cam and gave the SD card to the officer. Brings up some questions.
1. On the report would it say the officer viewed the video?
2. What are the chances of getting my SD card back?
You can definitely get your property back. You can follow whatever procedure your municipality has to file an open records request for all matter involving your case. That would include the video which should be logged as evidence. Look online on your city's website to find out how to file for it. Many times it is the City Secretary who handles those. they have to go through the legal dept. and in Tx you have max 7 days to provide info.
Also I would contact the officer via email to find out why he determined it was your fault if the video you provided showed otherwise.

Usually these cops just automatically give the ticket to the car in the rear. If you get hit from behind, its usually the rear car that gets the ticket , usually for following too close.
