  • Deadlifts

For the powerlifters, which stance do you prefer? Sumo or traditional?

I'm a traditional stance guy. I have a long torso and short legs, but sumo seems like it really hammers my lower back more. Could be that I need to work on my flexibility a bit? I usually incorporate deadlifts into my routine when trying to put on size and strength. For me, nothing works better for that goal than deadlifts and squats.

Amen to this. 100%. I go traditional 99% of the time. I remember way back in the day, virtually nobody deadlifted. I used to deadlift on the carpet at the gym, since they didnt even have a place for deadlifts. I used to call deadlifts my secret weapon because I was the only person doing them lol

Same here brotha, I've always been a deadlifter. Just me, the bar, some weights, the floor and I'm good to go. Although, I feel them a bit more now that I'm getting older and don't do them as often lol.

if you arent pulling for power lifting then the weight is only realitive to the individual pulling it. we want big nasty thick backs and blowing a disk out is counter productive to move a couple extra 45s haha

Hahah this is true. I try not to lift with my ego. I'm usually pretty good at it I gave no problems curling 25s for workouts while everyone is swinging 45s

LOL So true. I leave my ego at the door when I'm deadlifting or squatting. Even then, it mean mugs me from across the room sometimes and talks me into adding a little more weight.
