  • Oil Pulling. Explain this to me

This guy in class talked about oil pulling and how great it is . Its where you put coconut oil in your mouth and swish it around and thru your teeth for 15 minutes. Its supposed to do wonders for you. Kills the bacteria in your mouth, whitens your teeth and has all kinds of other benefits. I did it this morning but only lasted 5 minutes before getting tired and spitting it out lol
Im wondering if anyone has tried this or has heard of it?

Oil pulling, also known as "kavala" or "gundusha," is an ancient Ayurvedic dental technique that involves swishing a tablespoon of oil in your mouth on an empty stomach for around 20 minutes. This action supposedly draws out toxins in your body, primarily to improve oral health but also to improve your overall health.Mar 25, 2014

Huh interesting, im a teeth whitening fanatic so im always using these crest strips. Ive never heard of this before. Did you guys know the proper way to use teeth whitening toothpaste? Once your done brushing you keep all of the toothpaste in your mouth and then go to bed, a girl friend of mine does this and ive never seen whiter teeth in my life. It kinda sounds gross but it works.

No chemicals for me. Baking soda does a fine job on teeth whitening

i am going to feel sorry for you guys when all the enamel is off your teeth from whitening all the time. i have never broken a tooth off yet but i hear it is pretty freaking painful. if i gave two craps about how freaking white my teeth were i wouldnt drink coffee and use tobacco. then again if i choose to do so i would go the naturalist route possible to keep the protective layer of my teeth in tack so they last as long as i am alive. cool thing for me is i have not had a cavity in my adult life so far. so i dont have yuck mouth either

I've never heard of that. I just brush my teeth and use mouthwash. I've always had good teeth.
