At least here in the mid west the price of eggs has skyrocketed. The bird flu and the slaughter of thousands of chickens has taken the price of a dozen eggs from .99 to over 2.45. I eat a lot of eggs and it's insane. What are prices like around the country?

Re: Price of Eggs!!!!
Big egg eater:
Got scared about all those birds being slaughtered so I went to Sam's club May 28 and bought 10 dozen. They were only $7.84 for 5 doz. I will be checking the prices next time we're in there. I think we may have a local supplier though.

Re: Price of Eggs!!!!
I dont buy eggs very often but they dont sound all that expensive even now. 5 dozen for 13 bucks seems cheap to me, but I dont know.
I saw on the news that they are bringing eggs in from norway, thats the first time the us has ever had to import eggs

Re: Price of Eggs!!!!
On upper east coast they've gone from $2.39 to $3.59 a dozen in a relatively short time. I go through about 3-4 dozen a week and used to be happy it was my least expensive protein item but not anymore

Re: Price of Eggs!!!!
I'd have to agree. I swear these chickens are getting 401k plans because the price of eggs is crazy. I'm paying around $3-4 per dozen for regular eggs (not organic). Occasionally, I hit the farmer's market and it's $5-8 per dozen depending on the vendor.
