I hate getting ripped off

I took this old lawn mower to this shitty place up the road and said can you get this thing to start with one or 2 pulls? Oh ya, he says. I go to pick it up yesterday, pay $40 and take it home. I asked him if its going to start with one or two pulls " oh ya man, no problem, one or two pulls"... I have been yanking that damn pull cord until my right shoulder is coming out of the socket and it still has not started LOL
He lied his ass off to me, no doubt about it. Do I blow it off and just go buy a new mower or go back in and say give me my 40 dollars back? Dont you hate getting ripped off like that?

dzone, i would take it back to him and tell him to start it on 2 pulls or less or i want my damn money back. that's what he told you and what you expected for your money so that's the end state you should get

No doubt. I hate this kind of drama over 40 but its the whole principle. This guy could barely speak english and I think he has no problem ripping off some americans. When I went to pick it up, I hear someone back there pulling on a mower like 40 times until it started and I think it was my mower lol

run some seafoam through it, this stuff will clean out the carb. check the plug and the air filter and fuel. if the mower sat out when it rained it could have water in the fuel, if the fuel is old that would be a prob too.

Hes a fool. If it a biggs or similar follow post above. You gotta stay on top of some of those as far as maintenance, I've blow a few up over the years. Make sure to do a full tune up. If gas has gelled on you youll have to really clean that carb, flush the tank also if the gas has been sitting really long.

Yes, he allegedly cleaned the carburetor. I will remain calm about it and walk in tomorrow and say hello, I need to get my money back for this lawnmower I picked up on saturday . If he turns jerk, I might end up giving him a piece of my mind. ... Its only $40 bucks but still. When I dropped it off, I said please let me know if this mower is worth even paying the money to save..He said he would call me and let me know. He never called and I finally went in and picked it up. Took it home and it has yet to start after about 150 yanks on that rope. lol

I'd definitely take it back brotha. I'd tell him to pull the cord and for every pull that it doesn't start, he gives you a dollar back, then every pull after that he owes you a dollar for the inconvenience lol.

Ok, so Im going to get ready and head on in there. I will calmly ask for my 40 back. If he refuses, then what, short of picking the guy up and throwing him across the room? lol...seriously, I will have to tell him and I am going to file a complaint with the district attorneys office, and am going to flood the internet with warnings to the public regarding his crooked business practices. Am I right? Thanks for the input folks. This is actually kind of humorous. Whatever the outcome, cant let little crap derail our day and our mood..but I better get my foikin money back lol

One thing is for sure, I need to learn to fix my own shit. Im kind of embarrassed that I dont know how to clean a carb or tune up a mower. My little farm keeps getting bigger and bigger and eventually I am going to need to buy a tractor and I had better learn how to fix it

Thats it exactly. Its monday morning and I dont want this to have any kind of negative effect on my day. My expectation is when I talk to the owner, not the kid who ripped me off, that he will give my money back. If not, I will calmly tell him what I think and walk away.
