My favorite is when a kid in a Focus or Satuen with the loud exaust , spoilers and chrome fire extinguisher get along side of me and I dust his ass in my 4x4 6 cyl.

Thanks bro.......93 Supra TT........HKS T51R, 761 RWHP, 701RWTQ. I just about smoke anything on 2 or 4 wheels.....except for that pesky Grand National that keeps handing me my rear on the launch. Thats OK........80 MPH and my sup rears its ugly head, and shows him some tail lights.

I agree with that as well.....But then we have the econo box race cars....The Integra Type R's and GSR's for that matter and others. My old 94 GSR went 13.4 on motor......I had alil money into it but for me, it didnt matter how much money, it was the expression on the owner of the GT you just humiliated with his girl in the car...lol.
Anyway, Still have respect for older v8's. There is a 68 Camaro arounf me with a custom Merlin Block i think its a 660 that im just plain scared to run.
the guys who do all that crap to thier cars need to have something better to spend thier money on. in my area, its all the rich kids. i like a good looking car, but the ridiculous things they do to the imports are not appealing. these people obviously dont know what makes a car look good. for example, some of these cars have more vinyl than paint....? i dont get it. i do like foreign cars though, just not when i know its driven by some rich kid with too much money on his hands.

I agree but some of these cars are straight up expensive. My Supra was 30K when I bought it. I bought it when I was 21. Im just blessed to make the money to afford nice cars. I dont like when mommy and daddy buys their 16 year old son a brand new E46 M3. They will no respect for the power of the car or the car itself and end up wrecking and hurting themselves or someone else. If you cant respect it dont buy it. Im still scared of my Supra in 2nd gear on a roll @ 26PSI....stupid thing just sned the rears up in smoke instantly. Must be careful. I hate turbo cars in turns....rather have an M3.
Originally posted by lxorl I dont see the point in buying a 10K car and then putting another 10 in after market , cosmetic parts on it to make it look fast.... but a 20k car that is fast... just my opinion....
I laugh my ass off every time i see a Dodge neon with a huge spoiler on it.....
I'm with you, it looks like shit and really funny to look at though....
Nothing wrong with hooking up afour banger and thinking it's fast. Most of you guys on hear are fat pieces of sh#t who think they are on a bulking cycle!

You changed my mind. I am going to get a spoiler, noen lights, the"fart can exaust",Tornado air thingy, some splitfire spark plugs and going to kick some v-8 ass.:p

Hell ya! Those things eat 5.0's for breakfast stock!
RIP BigJim33 & GearedUp: You are sorely missed my friends.
Hindsight is always 20/20. But looking back it's still a bit fuzzy.
5.0's that are stock are weak. I hardley consider 215HP in a 3400 LB car anything to write home about. Quite a few stock hondas are able to hand a 5.0 his tail. S2000's, Preludes, GSR's.....If you wanna compare something, compare it to the 5.7 Chevy 350. Out of reach of most import 4 bangers.
Yeah.. I should have mentioned the civics and accords that I was referring too. The S2000 is actually pretty quick.
215Hp isn't alot (only the 79, 80's model were this low), but remember that they're putting out at least 200ft/lb torque. HP isn't the be-all end-all of performance ratings.
The chev 350 isn't any better than the 5.0L There were a few years where the 5.0L mustang was faster than the 5.7L powered camaro. The LS1 engines are impressive tho.. too bad they're based on 40 year old technology.
THere's lots of fast hondas out there. I was just making the point that every kid I see why buys a civic/prelude/crx is instantly claiming they dust 5.0's. Most of them can't.
The 84 5.0L mustang is still a mid 14, low 15 second car. I havn't seen any stock prelude, civic, or crx bust the 16 second mark.

Finally, an Honest Gear Head (Mechanically Speaking)LOL,..anyway. Like I was saying a 96 - 98 GT Right out of the factory was a bag. Ford even stated and I quote "This model is a performance runt". These models were doing low 15's out of the factory. My 94 GSR went 15.3 right out og the box. It will put a hurtin on moderateley Modded GT's and you have to remember these cars suck off the line. I mostly race people from a roll, So if my car and say a 94 Camaro both went 13.4 at the same track and then we drove him and hit it from a roll, I would pull ahead becuase of my gearing and the way VTEC is designed. Top end in my car is scary for a Non Turbo car. Anyway, There are stock Hondas that crack the 16 Sec Mark such as Integra GSR, Type-R (Acura) Honda Prelude, S2000, NSX (Just figured id trow this one in there. I just dont agree with the old "No Reoplacement for Displacement" Technology shows that even the almight ford is moving away from Push-Rod actuated motors and moving over to Over Head Cam technology that import have been using for years.
Lol.. yes another gear head. And we both need to work on our facts!
The 96-98GT was the first years for the 4.6L not the 5.0!
And I'm sorry, there is "No replacement for displacement". Technology can only help you so much. Use that same technology on an engine with twice the displacement, you're going to get alot more power!

That year thing was an oversight on my part. 94-95 was the last 2 years of the 5.0 in that bodystyle, then came the 96-98 with the different tails and the 4.6 Runt motor.
My comment aboiut the Replacement for displacement means this. I agree with you, aboiut do the same technology to a V8 and it will be faster.
I was making a point such as this,
Say there is a HP goal of 500HP. You can build a V8 motor out, you can turbo a 4 cylinder with some other things such as Fuel Mods, Sleeve Block,etc....Yoiu can spray the $h*t out of the motor.....some dif ways to get that power. My point is this, to get to that goal I dont have to go the V8 route. Which means there is a replacement for displacement. I didnt have to take the same route to get the same HP level.
I do agree about displacment though.
My GSR makes 94.4 HP/Ltr in stock trim. A 95 5.0 GT makes 45.0 HP/Ltr. If my motor was a 5.0 Ltr it would make 472 HP in stock form. Weight also has a lot to do with it, My GSR weighs 2900 With Driver, The stang weighs in the mid 3000's. Power to weight ratio is better then the stang as I am only giving up 55HP but he is giving up 500Lbs to me.
But in the end My Supra would take down the Integra, Stangs, and anything ive ever raced with the exception of 2 cars. 1 is a 86 Buick GN thats got a crazy amount of MOds, Custom Block etc etc but I catch @ about 80 and put aboiut another 4-6 cars on him....and this Freak of a 68 Camaro with a (I believe) a 660 Merlin Block. Its crazy. Im just plain scared to race this guy.
But let's also look at this in a different mannor:
S2000 Vs 5.0 Mustang.. it's possible to built both to make 400HP.
BUT.. the mustang is a heck of alot cheaper to do, and will do it alot more reliably.
S2000 Vs. 5.0 Mustang at 800HP. There's lots of 800HP 5.0's out there. But how many 800HP S2000's? While I'm sure it's possible to get that kind of power out of the s2000, it'd still be a hell of an acomplishment... and it probably wouldn't be streetable.
