Re: Golds gym to permanently close some locations
Very sad indeed, terrible to see how much all of this crap is going to hurt the gym business. I know there's a couple in our area that I don't think are going to make it through this patch.

Re: Golds gym to permanently close some locations
its crazy but pf made the call to close up before a lot of states even made the call. we need to get back to living, this stuff is getting out of hand quickOriginally posted by chemicallyengineered View PostThe most current info I have is that the earliest that corporate can consider reopening clubs is may 13th. And of course everything will hinge on when that state and region lift their stay at home orders. After that point there is some criteria that the clubs must meet before they get the ok to reopen. As I have clearance to share more info I will.
On a side note the consensus in my area, Hudson valley region of ny, is that we won’t reopen here until at least June 1st.

Re: Golds gym to permanently close some locations
I think I can tell You one more thing. We have a 95 page book of new guidelines that corporate gave us yesterday to study pertaining to our reopening. I will admit I’m only on page 20 and I can’t share any details right now but just know a lot of work has gone into designing our new practices and procedures.

Definitely unfortunate, hopefully they can continue to keep open some of the historic locations.

Re: Golds gym to permanently close some locations
Say it ain't so! It is truly a sad time, especially for old-school muscle-heads like myself who, prior to a Gold's Gym opening in my town, used to plan vacations based on what gym's I could train at and know the local pros that were from the area(s) and where they trained. In hopes of maybe getting to see them train at such legendary places as Gold's, World's. etc.

I have a few friends that own small gyms. This whole thing is hitting them hard and very sad to watch.

This is sad indeed. Hopefully they receive a bailout. We have a couple of franchises near me as well

Re: Golds gym to permanently close some locations
i am training with a buddy now in his facility while everything is locked down. he is a retired marine and has one of the cleanest if not the cleanest facility i have ever been in in my entire life. i have been in facilities all over the world and his is hands down the most up kept place i have seen. he puts his anal attention to detail from the marine corps into his place. kind of feel bad for his employees but you damn sure wont catch mrsa or some nasty ring worm up in there. it's funny when i roll in with him how they all jump to.Originally posted by chemicallyengineered View PostI can’t speak to golds but I know at planet we have gotten a lot of our franchisees rent freezes while they are closed. We also helped many get the apps for the ppp and other small business loans. Our ceo paid all staff for the first month that we were closed and only furloughed then as of last week. All executives have taken pay cuts and the ceo isn’t taking any paycheck at all until we open. Our hopes are that we will be open by June. The big thing for us is what restrictions will the government impose upon our industry. Will it be limiting the number of members in the gym at one time? Will it be staggering the equipment? We have a ton of new sanitizing standards ready to roll out when the time comes. It’s going to be a strange new world after this.

I believe most gyms have frozen all billing during this period. I know we have.

Maybe they are aiming for a bailout? Most folk I know are just paying their dues.

Re: Golds gym to permanently close some locations
The ceo has a town hall meeting with us every week and the goal is we closed with 2000 clubs and 15 million members and they plan to open back up with the same. While you can’t completely save all memberships during this time we should Be able to keep all The locations. Plus corporate typically buys back any franchises that may be underperforming and revitalizes them.

I sure hope the Planet I go to doesn't close up. That place is already so clean!Originally posted by chemicallyengineered View PostI can’t speak to golds but I know at planet we have gotten a lot of our franchisees rent freezes while they are closed.
