    anyone done their own remodel?

    Started yesterday. tore out all my cabinets (except the sink waiting on a plumber buddy to help me) in my kitchen

    took some days off to install new ones next week. I have to build the cabinets too. (we bought them partially finished to save $$$)

    the demolition was pretty easy although the idiots who installed the cabinets used flat head screws to mount them. then they were spackled and painted over which made removal a *****!

    amazing how inconvenient it is not to have a proper kitchen and counter tops.

    any tips you have to make this easier?

    oh here is the wallpaper I found behind my cabinets. why would anyone cover something so beautiful!?

        My only tip is to buy a Kreg pocket hole jig if you don't already have one. I have the Kreg K4MS and love it. I find myself looking for reasons to use it. lol. Actually I just built a dog house/end table and used pocket holes for all the joinery.

        My guess for the year is 1970.

          ive remodeled a few.. ya they can be fun
          i would find my idea draw it up then search the craigslist and used or discount stores and of course the internet. pack the garage and patio until material was got then get to ripping.
          pop the dumpster out in front and two weeks the project would be done. termite damage sucks cause its always an after the fact. electrical can suck.. bad. kitchen and baths are my favorite .. the only thing i subbed out where the granite counter tops.. didnt want to screw those up at the end,


          as for those crappy screws .. sawsall long blade brutha .. its demo. enjoy the journey

            Man that's awesome! There are so many things we want to do to our house, but like guns I'm about as handy as a plastic toy hammer. My brother is fantastic at remodeling and building things in general, so I'm working on enlisting his help with a few projects. He loves doing these types of things, so for him it'll be fun. For me it'll be a ton of learning and work.

                oh, cabinets are done and installed. bought granite counters. I have no idea when they will get here. i am tired of having a torn up kitchen.

                will post pics once counters are in. already worn out on this work. after counters i am installing tile backsplash...............fun..................not really
