Anyone have one of these? I keep seeing them everywhere while we're out Christmas shopping this year. I gotta admit, I want one. One of the salesmen at Fry's was flying one in the store the other day and it looked so damn fun. They actually had some that come with a virtual reality headset that you put on while you fly, so you have a birds eye view using the drones camera. Crazy stuff.

I've seen them from $25 up to over a $1,000. Anyone know anything about them? Which ones are the best?

Awesome! Yeah I'm curious if there are any particular brands they think are better than others. I'm definitely going to get myself one, just researching them right now. The ones with virtual headsets look like they would be so fun to fly, but super expensive. A bit out of my price range.

That's what I'm finding out through my research so far. More expensive ones have much better range and battery life. Some of the cheaper ones only have a 15 minute or so battery life, but as you get more expensive they seem to go up to around 45 minutes or so.

Good info. I might have to check it out. Would be cool to make drone videos of mountain scenes and such.. Do cities limit where you can fly those things?

              Re: Drones

you can get one for $100 that you can fly around without a camera on it and it will be fun. $1000-1500 gets you one that you can fly out of the line of sight and fly by the monitor on the controller and has GPS and can come back on it's own if your controller dies.

I say buy a mini drone and play in your house. if it is something you really like upgrade and sell the mini.

we have 2 of them. they got played with a lot at first now they just sit. the batteries are bad now and they are worthless.

That I don't know. I live in the city limits, so I might want to check that out before hand lol. Might be different depending on the area.

Yeah I saw some expensive ones like that. I think it would be so cool to just sit in the front yard, put on the headset and take off.

my neighbor's son came to visit during the summer. he brought his. it has a mile+ radius. he flew it way out of sight and we could see where it was going with the HD cam. it was badass
