  • Pitbulls & other dogs

Ive never been a pitbull terrier fan but lately have been thinking maybe its a breed that would suit my needs and be a buddy to the male dog I have. My dogs coat is very low maintenance-almost no shedding and he doesnt need much brushing ever. Is that how pitbulls are?

How are they as guard dogs? Im guessing good because just the sight of them scares the shit out of most people. I have 5 acres that I want to encloe with 8 foot field fence and have 2 or 3 dogs to guard the place from trespassers. I love german shephards, but shedding and possible hip issues as well as rottweillers or other type guarding breeds that are low maint3nance.
Im thinkin g pitbulls have great personalities and are sweet dogs if raised the right way. I like how they look. They look like they are always smiling, thats how my dog is.
    Thanks

really glad I talked to you guys. Thanks. Man those are some muscular dogs. They are awesome. My dog would go nuts if I got him a female like that. He might never run away again lol
Im going to look into it, for real. How much are those 2 breeds and are there any health problems?

my female american lived for a little over 10 years with zero health problems. my old boss' bull terrier is over 14 now with absolutely zero health issues and she is a top pedigre. she is also a brindle so that helps a lot. i have a white bull terrier and the only health issues i have had out of him is that he has allergies. not really a big deal at all but i learned after we got him that the white ones tend to have allergies. my boy is a level 2 pedigre and he retails for about 5k. i got mine from the number 2 breeder in the world and lucky for me we knew him from work haha. so i got him for 3g. the cool thing about mine is that i can breed him for up to 2g a pop if i want to take him back into them. i dont want to spread the allergies so i would never do it but it is an option. he is a beast of a dog though and cool as hell. the breeder i got him from had a stud in his kennel that was on a raw organic food diet only and i kid you not that dog looked like a ripped monster body builder. he told me that they were down sizing him back because even though he was a top tier pedigre with a crazy bloodline no one wanted to breed with him because they were afraid of him. he was mild mannered and cool as well but if you walked up on that dog you would crap your pants for sure

i am pretty sure that's what we paid for our american as well. the bull terrier goes off the blood line/level of pedigre and i am pretty sure go from 1g all the way up to 10-12g. i went with the level i did because that was the liter that was on deck and almost ready to go. the only marking mine has on him is one black ear and a tiny black spec above his eye and the rest is solid white. my american was black and white with a tad little bit of a brindle spot on her. and yes she shed like a champ. my bullie doesnt shed as bad but he will a bit in the summer time.
i also have a buddy who had another american female that is absolutlely massive. she is another very good dog. i dont think i have ever heard anyone with a complaint on either breed honestly. i have to keep my bullie up when people come over though because he can jump 10 feet in the air and he scares people. i can run him in the back yard for about 10 or 15 mins and he isnt an issue but still i dont want him to freak people out. my daughter is tiny and she handles him all by herself so he really isnt an issue at all. he just looks the part

Get you a few Great Danes and you'll be in heaven. They are very loyal and protective of lil kids. If you have 2 fuckin horses running around ain't nobody gonna bother you lol. I had 2 and when I took them places it was like Moses parting the Red Sea lol. It was great no pun intended lol

Don't take my dog advice for a protector. I have a Boxer and he is the best if you need 10,000 kisses a day lol. Lots of love, huge personality, but may not be the best guard dog. Although, he is still just under a year old. He may toughen up a bit when he gets older.

This is from the buffdog website. Interesting that they are mixed breed. Probably less health problems that way. Bulldog, Mastiff and boxer. Very cool. You think these dogs are $1200? I am going to call them
The RM bulldogs are American bulldog, Neo Mastiff, and boxer cross. Boxer was used in lieu of
pitbull to make the dogs more family friendly and to provide energy and athleticism. We used
Neo Mastiff of course for size and bones. The secret ingredient we feel has been the quality
American bulldogs we have been blessed with being able to use.

If we could have a dog, I would love to have a Boxer. I would actually like any dog, they are all awesome. I think whatever kind you choose, you will have a very happy loving buddy

As far as guard dogs in letting you know someone is around? Perfect. My girl lets me know the second someone is even close to the house. Watching them pass by. Mostly because she's jealous they're going by the house and not coming in to play but all the same I know they're in the neighborhood. God forbid it's someone coming to the door cuz she tries to lick them to death. As far as companionship she loves other dogs as do most pittys. Mine loves our cats too but plays a little too physical for them to be into it. They're addictive, once you own one you'll own one for life or more appropriately they'll own you. This is my baby when she was a pup and again two years later.[IMG]http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160801
