I have been always been a person who is extremely aware of my surroundings, and even more so lately. Pulling up by our house last night with my daughter and her friend in the car. Two guys sitting in a car , that I do not recognize and I say " who are these 2 shady looking guys?". My daughter tells her friend "My Mom thinks everyone is shady?" lol We have lived here a long time and when I see things just out of sorts senses are peaked. I have not been wrong on a few occasions. I have approached these situations and have just asked people but I am learning that is probably not always a good idea. Guess I don't want the kids to think I trust no one, but that's just how it is sometimes

Re: I didn't think I was judgemental?
it's those that are blind and ignorant of their surrounds that are easy targets. it is neither paranoid nor racist or judgemental for identifying stuff that is out of place. if more people in this country were like you are, we would have much lower crime rates and live in a much better society. good point on people's ignorance, if i see a tatted up bald monster white guy walking up a dark ally towards me and no one else is around, then i will turn my happy butt around and find an alternate route. that's not racist or profiling that's me using my common sense and not putting myself in a situation that could get me hurt or worse. same goes for black people and other races. nothing personal but i am very security conscience of what is going on around me at all timesTGBSupplements REP

Re: I didn't think I was judgemental?
situational awareness is paramount to staying safe. I am happy you utilize it. we all have the ability but we become complacent and that is when a person looking for an easy victim will pounce. you do your family credit by being paranoid.
"it will never happen to me" syndrome, until it does. i am pretty damn sure people who are assaulted, raped, robbed, killed did not think it would happen to them. An aware person is far less likely to be attacked as they can raise an alarm before contact or defend themselves.
kudos young lady.

You're not judgemental. Its hard to balence being kind and and not getting taken advantage of anymore. I've learned that the hard way.
But when it comes to that your daughter you did the right thing. If they kept staying there I would have probably told them to leave. If they made me uncomfortable about my family safety.Animal the manimal

I'm always paying attention to that kind of stuff, new peiple on the block, new cars I've never seen. Hell I randomly get up and check out the front windows. Call me paranoid call me judgemental but I'll be damned if I let anyone happen to my or especially my familyI never meant to be better than anyone, I was just born that way. Its hard being a god amongst peasants!

Re: I didn't think I was judgemental?
I wouldn't say I am paranoid. Have a lot vested here in this community. I have served on the board here for 7 years and it is very "thankless". the community wants a "neighborhood watch" in place but there are about 6 of us who are that, lol. People here will NOT call the police . They want cameras and sorry but cameras may be a bit of a deterrent but not enough. We need 'presence"Veritas Vos Liberabit
