  • Taught vs Learned.

I have been around for a little bit and the most important thing I have tried to pass along to my kids and others looking for wisdom is to question everything they have been taught and hold on to what you have learned. Then I tell them if you really want to be right you must be willing to be wrong and they always says what? I tell them that too many times we hold on to our opinion and beliefs because they become comfortable or these beliefs justify decisions we have made. Reality and truth are what is important even if you are wrong. I tell my son hold and defend your position but be open to correction.

That makes sense. I think its best to be taught, then learn for yourself to ge tthe best of both worlds.

      you are 100% correct.

taught is harder to accept sometimes especially for younger folk and learned tends to leave bruises. both are valuble and if one can pass knowledge on to a youngster so they make good decisions you have to be able to quantify the statement as you said. i hated my dad saying "because i said so"

Adversity is often the best teacher. Its a cruel reality, but pain sometimes does us some good lol I had to go through all that hell to get all this wisdom haha
