So my friend made dinner on the grill for her boyfriend . All looks good except the thing that I supposed to be steak. fuzo said it looks like a kidney,lol. Now I know why my daughter came home from her house once and said " mom I tried some steak Olga made and it was so chewy my jaws hurt" lol. I told her the steak I make will never look like that or be chewy.
that looks like a strip steak that was cooked wide open for to long lol. by looking at the char on the chicken it is def to hot to long. looks kinda like the dog treats like someone else pointed out. someone needs to tell them to respect the meat please
The steak is that cheap meat often sold sliced really thin but no matter what its really hard to tenderize. I see it at carnacrias alot have qued it but you must mince it or its a pain in the ass . Skirt is a better choice here. The poor chicken and what I assume is fish is just over cooked is all.

Its not flank. You can tell by the grain pattern in the meat. Flank you can tenderize and looks completely different. I eat the crap outta flank at home now that I know how to cook it
Possible she decided to buy something other than flank this time but that's what she usually gets. I am not a big steak eater but when I grill it is Filet mignon all the way

i call skirt steak strip steak. in the area i live and some others people call it breakfast steak lol. you cook it high and fast and you can forget about eating it, cause you are better off eating a piece of leather. best way i have found to cook some of the leaner cuts of beef is: first marinade it of course, then you make you a aluminum foil pouch toss the meat and some more marinade in there. grill it low and slow and it always comes out tender enough to cut with a fork. i even do it with top round, which if not cooked properly is just like the skirt steak lol, you will be doing some work on your jaw muscles
I find with the tuffer cuts of meat a minimum of 24 more like 48 hour marinated incorporating apple cider vinegar really helps tenderize also cross cutting and waiting till the meat is at room temp helps. Slow and low and good to go.
