Re: The FCC Just Voted to Regulate the Internet Like a Utility
it prolly means less of a free market for the Internet service providers and higher prices for their customers.
every time the govt sets in new rules, regulations and taxes to an industry it makes everything more expensive.

i saw one of the commissoners that voted against this that it would drive up the cost of cable and comm services over 60% over the next 5 years. the average current cost is 90 bucks for cable phone and net so that is going up by 60% minimum. he also stated that the big companies have sued and won twice already and they are already prepping the battle ground for the next law suit. sad thing is he says it isnt the actual big companies this is going to destroy, it is the little guys and the people that are just trying to start out.
the newest attack is on our second ammendment again. the doj and atf are secretly trying to pass new regs on certain weapons and ammo since our pos in chief cant get it passed through congress. oh but they are being transparent as they always are and their is no funny business going on about it

well when the government gets their fingers in something better brace for taxes to pay for the bloated inefficient management and the bureaucratic slow evolution. don't forget this is all part of a plan by obama. We will subsidize broadband to people who "can't" afford it. so information will be easily transferred to them about all the free stuff they will get if they vote a certain way.
the more free stuff you give a demographic the more you can bet they will vote for you. it's simply buying votes.

Re: The FCC Just Voted to Regulate the Internet Like a Utility
If I read correctly, there were over 300 pages involved in this -- and they still weren't released (whenever I was reading up on it yesterday, at least). I would like to know what's in there.
In theory, voting it as a utility makes sense -- because it stops Comcast and Time Warner from being able to accept more money from bigger companies and making their internet and content faster, whereas those with no money will be in the land of buffering.
That said, if the FCC and the government get involved beyond just that ruling, it's not what the people wanted.
Ugh.
