My paralyzed friend and neighbor next door who inspires me. Always a smile and good chat, goes to work everyday , drives himself around wherever he goes, probably more self sufficient than people who aren't living in a wheelchair. Appreciate inspiration but you must be aware of it first

I wake up and am thankful for being alive and adapting to civilian life. My friends and fello soilders not all of them got so lucky. Best friend killed him self. Some homeless. Drug addicts alcoholics. Its hard living again after that. 9 years of 200 days a year fighting . then come home to work a 9-5 no one knows what to do with us, how to help. So they druf us up and send us back. Our wives have to deal with cold heartless killers. My wife been threw so much and helped me. So today im greatful for being able to handle normal life. Some what. So many dead or homeless brothers.....

My problems. There's a saying that if we all threw our problems into the middle of the room and we could see everyone else's, we would grab ours back as soon as we could. I don't base my happiness on the misery of others however, I realize that I don't always have it as bad as I sometimes think. Very grateful today.

finding things that help me get through the day. I watch a lot of motivational videos and my favorite series is the, Your World Within videos. Really great stuff. I love being reminded that hard work pays off and there is light at the end of the tunnel on the days I can't see it. Here is a link, http://www.yourworldwithin.com/

Remembering that just because the day starts out rocky does not mean it has to stay that way. Hit the reset button and move on. It kinda of relates to this story about the two monks.....

Two monks were making a pilgrimage to venerate the relics of a great Saint. During the course of their journey, they came to a river where they met a beautiful young woman -- an apparently worldly creature, dressed in expensive finery and with her hair done up in the latest fashion. She was afraid of the current and afraid of ruining her lovely clothing, so asked the brothers if they might carry her across the river.

The younger and more exacting of the brothers was offended at the very idea and turned away with an attitude of disgust. The older brother didn't hesitate, and quickly picked the woman up on his shoulders, carried her across the river, and set her down on the other side. She thanked him and went on her way, and the brother waded back through the waters.

The monks resumed their walk, the older one in perfect equanimity and enjoying the beautiful countryside, while the younger one grew more and more brooding and distracted, so much so that he could keep his silence no longer and suddenly burst out, "Brother, we are taught to avoid contact with women, and there you were, not just touching a woman, but carrying her on your shoulders!"

The older monk looked at the younger with a loving, pitiful smile and said, "Brother, I set her down on the other side of the river; you are still carrying her."
"You don't know how strong you are until strong is your only option."

My job and a way to provide for my family. I don't love what I do but I love the people I do it for. When I say I love the people I do it for I do not mean my boss. I am referring to my wife and kids. At the end of the day it is about taking care of the people who matter most and being thankful my job gives me the opportunity to do so.
