I was digging through some of my stuff and came across a jar of coins I have that I forgot about. I have some silver dollars from the 1880's and wheat pennies from the 1830's and 1840's along with a bunch of old nickels and quaters.
Do any of you know how much something like that is worth?

that's pretty cool. Time to google your little fingers away, lol. I will ask my Dad when I talk to him cause he is a big collector of all kinds of old stuff and knows a lot about where to find things out
the silver dollars are worth there weight in silver if there that old. the pennys may have a bit of value based on what pennys they are. hit a coin dealer up they will be able to tell you what you got. some flea makets even got coin dealers now you can BS with.
I had a little time to research. Sometimes the sliver dollars are worth quite a bit and the pennies are even $50. If you can find a collector that wants them enough and they are in good condition which these are.
silver dollars are definitely worth the silver but even more to a collector. My grandma gave me a bag of silver dollars from around the same time because i collected coins. her dad saved them during the depression, when he dies she got them.
my dad took 25 coins that would be worth probably $50-100 each today and deposited them for $25 in a savings account for me.
i will never forget that.

oh he is and book smart but not wise. he cannot understand the abstract concept that the coins were worth more than $1 each because that was their face value.
