  • FBI director warns against cellphone encryption

FBI Director James Comey warned in stark terms Thursday against the push by technology companies to encrypt smartphone data and operating systems, arguing that murder cases could be stalled, suspects could walk free and justice could be thwarted by a locked phone or an encrypted hard drive.  Privacy advocates called the concerns exaggerated and little more than recycled arguments the government has raised against encryption since the early 1990s.

Re: FBI director warns against cellphone encryption

From my understanding there is paperwork signed by hiliary clinton and the NSA that says apple has given the NSA a backdoor into the apple network and every iphone on the planet. They have had abilities to get into phones but aparently now its nothing like ever before. All records, data, coding, pictures so on and so forth are all stored in your phone and they can get right into it. They can turn on the phone on remotely and activate the microphone and the camera. They can even activate the camera and microphone when the phone is "powered off" This isnt the newest news but the fact there is paperwork floating around with hiliary clintons name on it and the NSA means it was recent and they are digging into people and wtaching us now more then ever.

I mean if they are out to get u I'm sure the above is true.. But typically stuff saved on an iPhone is safer then anywhere else.. It's the cloud that's the bigger issue imo

Most things on iphones now get backed up to the cloud. Iphone is the only phone the president and its family is not allowed to have.

Look at the hackers who are stealing naked pix of celebs off the iCloud. Sorry I'll go back to a cheap prepaid.

yeah, form the beginning I knew the cloud was overly convenient, but I never bought into its privacy.. I am stictly anti-cloud lol.. no but seriously if you dont use the cloud the encyrption on the iphone is supposedly safer then anywhere else// except pen and paper of course

The cloud does have its convenience benefits but it’s a huge windows in to your day to day life. I never used the cloud and I recently broke my iphone. Nothing was backed up I lost everything! It would have been nice to have had a backup but it was even nicer knowing someone isn’t having fun going through all my shit.
