  • The debate over post-war Afghanistan

What do you all think about this Dec 31 deadline for withdrawal?
I could see Obama lying and saying the war is over, just to save face and take credit, while secretly keeping it going.
The worst part would be the Taliban coming in and torturing and killing all collaborators and infidels. Cant see the afghan army holding off any insurgents. We may be there forever. Or at least until the world explodes. What a mess.
Dont we also have deals going with the opium farmers over there? We cant leave all that opium to whomever.
WASHINGTON (AP) — If President Barack Obama were to decide to leave no military advisory force in Afghanistan next year, would Afghan security unravel to the point of enabling a civil war, a Taliban takeover and a return of al-Qaida in such numbers as to pose a 9/11-type threat?

if their wasnt so much political involvement with this theater we could have ended this a long time ago and almost completely washed our hands of it. may need a decient sized base there as well as in iraq to help the government and military until they are 100% but just walking away from both is stupid wreckless and an insult to all of us that served. we need to bust heads without one hand tied behind our back and clear the country out then protect the borders. politics ruin everything

the "deadline" is a myth...we're making several PERMANENT bases there and filling those...so not really an actual withdrawal...just moving them and calling it something different to throw the american people off for a while

if they do not leave troops there I think that will be a big mistake. that country can not take care of itself atleast not right now.. there is to much corruption in that country. if we fully pull out our safety in this world will be at risk again all of those years spent fighting there will be lost. and to me that shouldn't happen..

you made us come over there once bc you couldn't handle your business and we had to.. so now we're not leaving..

I also agree with guns when ever you have war tell the generals who are in charge what you want and step out of the way. if your not going to do that then why have them.. they are there to fight and get the job done so let them do that.. don't tell them to do a job then tie there hands.. its war shit happens.. handle your business and we wouldn't have to be here.. you didn't so we are and we're going to handle this way now..
