  • Vietnam Vet- my uncle

Saw my uncle today when he was over for my daughters birthday. I said "Happy Veterans Day" to him and I could tell it felt good to him that someone remembered. My Mom said when he got home fron Vietnam, and got off the plane, people called them baby killers and spit on them and such.

He has been battling kidney cancer with mets to the chest wall and hips bones, but he is doing okay right now. He has read many things about Vietnam vets who have turned up with renal cancer when they get older. My cousin also is a nurse and there were 6 older men who were all Vietnam Vets that were patients on her flooe and they had renal cancer also. Who knows?

Also, had another relative that was in Vietnam also but he took his own lifw when he was in his 40'S

Very sorry to hear about your uncle and the other relative who have and are suffering baby1.God Bless them for all they sacrificed for all of us.

Its pathetic as well that they dealt with what they did over there only to be thrown to the wolves when they returned to the US.So many have died for us all to enjoy the freedoms we have only to be made to feel nothing by not only the citizens we/they have fought for but from the very gov't that sent us there because of a political agenda!!

Im going to end with this as I can already feel the my internal temp going up.LOL

Its a shame that America didn't really take care of the people that fought for our freedom. When they returned as heros they should have been treated like heros instead of outcasts and good for nothing.

I agree 100% with what Fist said. I might not know the correct words to use sometimes but I can always count on Fist to help me !

i have a few in my family and lost my grandfather a couple years back. those are some tuff old dudes for sure and they were treated like trash for doing what they were told. the vast majority of those poor guys didnt even volunteer for duty they were drafted. early in my career we still had a handful of our senior guys left that were vietnam vets, that was pretty crazy and eye opening to me. everyone of the new guys were scared and intimidated by them lol.

i actually made the trip to the vietnam veteran's welcome home celebration (i think that's what they called it). shook a ton of hands and thanked them for their sacrifices and helped give them the proper welcome home.

Just a post for my uncle! He has just come home from 2 weeks in the hospital. I know it is near the end for him. Cancer is throughout his body. My Aunt would not let me go and see him and it is REALLY upsetting me. Now that he is home, I hope I can see him.

The plans are made for his funeral at the Veterans Cemetary. While no funerals are an easy event, it just seems that these are just so hard even more so. Havent been to a funeral since we buried our daughter so this will be a double whammy.

When Fuzos Dad, died, a Korean war veteran he was. Fuzo was lucky enough to be handed the flag by his siblings. It sits proudly on top of our curio!!!!
