their are forms of rights of passage that should and are acceptable. a nice firm tap of the chevrons after a promotion (which most people are stupid and leave the backs off of them) and a bunch of other things that happen. but just like everything else is taken to far. i would be like so you want to slam my rank into me with a wooden mallet huh? ok first sgt so after you hit me with that mallet then i am going to punch you in the face and take you down and try to rip your head off. that isnt hazing that is blatant assault. i have been hazed and done a small amount of hazing myself. it is supposed to be fun and good humored and not taken to the extreme of hurting someone or killing them. i have been hazed after crossing the equator and prime meridium both. not acceptable now because it is hazing and some jackass took it to far. blood stripped and promoted on many occasions. their is a difference between a nice firm tap and wrecking or trying to hurt someone. stuff makes me sick
