    one more thing,

u percieve yourself to be prepared, yet, what if the area u live is is one of the ones where u end up with no electricy and little gasoline, again folks would think no this cannot happen, yet, history has many examples of total breakdowns and what happens and the time it takes to normalzie

See trip, what you're trying to perceive would take a gamma ray event. We have backup systems upon backup systems, etc...There is not a chance of an area, in the USA, ending up with no electricity. The 750K volt trasmisson system across the USA, from coast to coast, is in tip top condition and working order. The 7.2-14.4K distribution system from coast to coast is in great condition. There are some areas that could use some updating, but nothing that a local power company couldn't handle if needed. Of coarse there's the events like hurricane that take down a few spans of power-lines here and there, and leave people without electricity for a few days, but that's only until the power company has the damage rebuilt. The economy, on the other hand, will not take down one span of line, or damage one power-pole. If all human life were to vanish off the face of the planet, just the hydro-electricity would continue for who knows how long...until the end of the world, or complete decay of equipment after 100s of years from no up-keep. That hydro-electricity feeds the transmission system, which feeds your local sub-stations, which feeds the distribution systems, which feeds your home.
There's no need to even waste your time worrying about an electricity shortage.
As far as gasoline, brace yourself, there are tanker ships anchored offshore, and circling around in the ocean slap full of petro waiting on gas prices to go back up so they can profit more. And if it came down to it, we have more than enough to get by for thousands of years right here in our own American soil.

        Re: Obama's next "Karl Rove"

Now, don't you think I know all that hp?

Yet, why do I perceive it as a possibility?

If you vaporize banks, there is no money, what does the ute do when no one pays, well they got too lay-off people, and then when a line goes down or a generator blows up, who is there to fix it, where will the part come from, how will it get there if the trucks are sitting in the terminals because the trucking company is in the same shape.

Here is a real life example happening right now, CHEESE BABY, WISCONSIN CHEESE.

Now, 95% of dairy industry in wisconsin provides there product, milk, to wisconsin cheese companies. Now, for some reason, ie, demand, the price of cheese is down 30%, which means the dairy farmers are now losing money hand over fist. Where will the price of cheese be two months from now, well, if it drops anoter 20% because cheese is considered a luxury by strapped moms for the kids sandwhiches, how are them dairy farmers doing?

All I'm trying to point out, is that the gubment now is sitting around contemplating SOCIAL UNREST, it ain't a pretty picture............during social unrest things can spiral out of control very quickly.

1923 Germany, HYPER inflation, caused social unrest, out of that social unrest rose up as a solution ****SM, now, how did that end up working out?

where i really stand is that, WE HAVE ALWAYS LIVED AT THE MAXIMUM HIGHEST STANDARDS OF LIVING POSSIBLE, thru-out the history of the word

when things get messed up for whatever reason, going from max to a point of statis to rebuild is an f'n mess, and how it goes there and bottoms is a complete mess, and very hard too predict

as i've said, price and time, lot's of hard work over a period of time, and things should work out

Basically what TRIP is saying is we have to be Socialists for a few years to fix this.

I'm assuming "ute" is some utility union. I would like to know the percentage of union workers in the utility industry opposed to non-union. Because I know a little about how the power industry functions, and I've never met anyone in the industry that belongs to a union. So, if some massive layoff such as that happened, there is just as massive of personnel ready to step in to take place. It'd be sorta like storm duty. I'm sure they'd get paid that way as well. This replacement could come from the Rural Electric Associations across the states. These REAs are owned by the consumer/"member". Their money is not normally in banks such as those that would collapse. Although I'm sure the REA might loose an appendage in such a collapse. Like a pinky finger. Maybe not even. More like a finger nail. Maybe not even that for an analogy. More like a smack on the finger nail.

I mean trip I realize that a massive banking collapse would be a bad thing for many, but don't forget that the money, that wouldn't have been in those banks, is in others. As you've said and I quote, "money doesn't vanish. It just goes from one place to another." and the people might surprise you in a time of panic. We might see those holding actually opening up to those in need, and lending a hand.

On the social unrest. Have we ever seen it in America? Did it happen sometime during the Great Depression?..When unemployment was greater than 25%? We're still a long way from that.

I like your last sentence. That sounds like a much better plan than communism as our solution.

              Re: Obama's next "Karl Rove"

              hp,

why would u assume a Ute is a utility union, it's just abbreviation for utility

again, utilities are just an example, it would all be the same

yes, money does not vanish, yet, if banks lever up 40-1 and are only capitalized 10-1 and they lose, they go bankrupt, the government only insures up too 250k, so the company who has a 5 million dollar account now has major problems, now most of those guys will have insurance, but the lag between getting flush again, can cause a vicious cycle.............the dollar is, full faith and credit, if faith is lost, bye bye

now, obviously i don't see it happenineg, yet, it is a real reality these guys behind closed doors are facing and talking about, heck, we are talking about it

people might surprise u in a panice, well, i say we're about here, how obie engages and get's all of us to do whatever is what american is about

the big debate we are having is over all the stimulus crap is it right or wrong

i'll say this, this weekend I read, Paul Volkers, Group of 30 Paper, that's obie's right hand man on economic stuff, now, it's 250 pages long, a hard read, yet, it actually puts on paper the facts ad figures of how we got here, how we can get out of this, and what are the reccomendations

i actually liked it alot cause it spanned 40 years in history, and how one wrong move here, led to another one there, and they added up and then the final tipping point was hit

communisn, it is words that get people all riled up and crazee, we are factually diddling in the banks, government has factually didled in private bizz many times before, they took over railroads in 1907 during strikes to get the goods too port for ww1, they took over mfg during wwii and demanded they mfg weapons, they took over savings and loans when they were bust

to lead, first u must understand, so all i do is try and understand what people MIGHT be thinking, based on there words and actions,

                Re: Obama's next "Karl Rove"

25% unemployment of an agrarain economy where on average no one worked more than 5 miles away from home,

my guess is that is really not what they are focues on, my guess is, in a worlwide economy where the average pay worldwide is 8k a year, and we are 45k, can we get dragged lower? ie, massive deflation
