Obama first met Reverend Wright prior to law school, nearly 20 years ago. Wright married Obama and his wife and also baptized his daughters.

Jeremiah Wright admires Louis Farrakhan, leader of the nation of Islam and is not ashamed about his radical separatist ideas.

Now I know that Wright isn't Obama but religious people do not go to a church and tithe at a church for 20 years unless they have fundamental alignments in their philosophical beliefs.

I find it interesting that they (Obama) attack ANY statements in reference to colour.. yet he can make all the claims about women and it is NO big deal. WTF.. Talk about double standards...

Now.. I do not mean this in a racists or chauvinist way. But, this is a perfect storm. If it were not for the shytie economic climate we are in today, neither Clinton or Obama would have a chance at being president. If it were not for how messed up our economy is.. we as a country would not be ready for a black OR female president.
But I think we will have one or the other come next year...

yeah, Obama says Geraldine Ferraro is taking part in divisive politics but his pastor just uses language of concern. WTFever!!

This is just case in point for Geraldine Ferraro's statements. If these kind of double standards were being exploited - he wouldn't be doing near as good.

Man, anyone that follows and believes with that Wright fellow is not someone that needs to be running anything. Shouldn't operate a bic lighter, much less a country. That Wright dude hates on everything. Worst of all, he hates America. Have y'all seen some of the quotes of that guy? He's bad news. Now it's coming clear how Mrs. Obama isn't proud of America. She's said things that align with J. Wright. People of churches think just how their preacher tells them to. Every word out of that reverend's mouth is literally the gospel. Obama just knows he better not start slinging that bs while he's trying to get elected.

Whats most disappointing is that Obama would sit under this guys teaching for 20 years. I'm fairly sure that this isn't the first time Wright has made devisive comments in the pulpit. Why would you distance yourself from him now (after 20 years) while running for president? Why would you not distance yourself from him years ago if you didn't agree?

Shows the true nature of Obama I believe. I am anti-Clinton but everyone says she'll do or say whatever it takes to get elected.....don't we see that here with Obama?

Somebody said something about Bush being close to a fascist, or something like that somewhere in an arguement for Obama. Yet this guy that's taught Obama for 20 years. This guy that Obama wrote makes him "believe in something" and "feel at home", actually defines fascist.

Obama did say he doesn't agree with his teachings and called him that "crazy uncle that says outlandish stuff" from time to time. Youre right, not really distancing but more down-playing.

I think your paraphrasing of his quote is even giving him more distance than his true quote does.

Then to put it in context: Obama seeked him (Wright) out after reading about his beliefs and has attended his church now for over 20 years. I think it is reasonable to assume Wright expresses many of Obama's core beliefs or Obama wouldn't have remained a member of the church for 20+/- years and now have him a part of his campaign.
