Ha that is too true and a "real" threat in our everyday lives. I dread the day my daughter starts all that **** (which will be soon....she is 11).
I'll admit the scare tactics comment was probably based more from personal experience and cannot be used as a generalization for all Christians, that was an unfair leap.
I am on my way to being a father in about 7 months so it probably is easier for me to say I would want my kids to think for themselves now than it will be in a few months, but I still plan to provide as well rounded of an outlook on life as possible.
Yeah I thought the same way. I've got an 8 month old and before I thought I would be more of a cool parent, I think I'm more of a dork parent because I go overboard with safety. I just want to create a giant bubble around my kid.

7 months? Congrats! I'm telling you, when you hold that little child in your arms you instantly change. It's like you now have a completely different purpose in life. But, man, children are awesome. My son makes me laugh everyday with the crazy stuff he comes up with. I hope the best for you and that you guys have a healthy baby. Congrats again!
I used to have superhuman powers....until my therapist took them away.

LMAO!
Yeah, our next child, God willing, if it's a girl at least she will have an older brother. And rest assured, he WILL be raised to be a gentlemen when it comes to women. There is a thing you can do to make sure your children are prepared for dating. For the daughter, she get's to go on date night with just daddy. Daddy will open the door, pull our her chair, let her order first and all the other stuff a gentlemen will do. Now, you start this at an early age like 10. It's good bonding time for father and daughter and it teacher her what a real man will act like. Then, when she starts to date, these boneheads won't come close to meeting her expectations. And the one that does, will make the father happy too. With boys, it's the same but they go with mom. They are taught to open the door, pull out the chair, let mom order first and all that stuff. This becomes a good bonding time for mom and son and teaches the son to be a gentlemen. Look, nothing is more weird than being a gentleman to your mom, so if you learn that, you can be one for any woman. Then, when he does start dating, the daughter will tell her parents about the date and the parents will know he comes from proper teaching.
This is what I'm been told to do by some of my mentors and they do it with their kids, or did, some of my mentors are much older than I am. One, has three girls, but he's preparing them for the proper screening process. LOL

That is actually a wonderful idea! It is true as well that kids will learn their ideas of attraction from their parents. So as an example is, Poppa is a bodybuilder chances are the daughter will grow up seeing a man in that physical light, the old song "I want a girl, just like the girl, that married dear old dad" sums up this idea. If a kid admires their parent (which is acheived by teaching them respect) then they will use that parent as their ideal of what the opposite sex is supposed to be like. Spending time with your kids is by far the most rewarding thing a parent can do. I just wish more parents say it that way.

awww, man...your right! it's right around the corner! i'm pretty hard on my kids, but very fair. i have my younger 2, to the point where they feel me letting them stay up 15mins past bedtime is HUGE!!! no shyt bro....i take the smallest of privledges and blow them WAY out of poportion. example, to stay up to 9:30, my duaghter had to bring home no less than 3 A's in any subject and no less than a B- in all. her bedtime was 9:15. now, 9:15 cut's halfway through one of her "shows", so she hated that!...all A's and B's was what she brought home! now, her "phone" time ends at 7pm. she's begging for 8pm. i told her, all A's with 1 B will get her 7:45....we'll see. i started laying the ground work for her and the youngest one to be happy with the smallest of things when they are about 8...everything they get...even haircuts, are big. it sounds mealy...kinda maybe nitpicking or being hard, but i let them stay at friends and have freinds over, and the rewards are other parents cant believe how greatfull they are, with the thank you's and please's, for the smallest of things. sometimes they break mold, but i come down pretty heavy when they do. both get plenty of hug's and i love you's, EXSPIECIALY (sp?) after a punishment. we'll see how this all works out with the boyfriend thing. the other thing we got going for us there is...we're kinda bigger than the average dad's, lol...when we go to school functions, i want to meet aaalllll her little friends, lol!!!! make sure that when i'm on the phone with them...they know who they are talking too.

Thanks T really excited, its is very intimidating though because I dont want to raise my kids anything like my parents did but I can already tell in my interactions with my wife that it did have an impact on me so it will be an interesting social experiment!
Just found out some interesting news though, due to outside pressures from the Catholic league, much of the movie was cut and changed to extract any of the religious (or anti-religious, probably more fitting) concepts from the movie to avoid any controversy. All I would ask from the Christian crowd here is to look at this censorship from a third person perspective abd ask yourself if it is right for a society to change the theme and intent of any form of media because it does not coincide with the majority of peoples beliefs. For some reason the name Bradbury and the number 451 come to mind when discussing the controversy surrounding this film. I have come to terms with people avoiding the film for their own personal beliefs, but do you guys feel the film should be compromised due to the original author's beliefs?
