Does it ever just hit any of you guys like a fukkin truck? I used to be on some anti-depressants, and 5 htp but stopped cause the scripts just started makin me feel like shiit. I don't stay depressed, it just kinda comes and goes and when that shiit comes it hits hard. Is there such thing as cyclical depression? And no, I'm not "on" right now and haven't just come off either. I don't know, maybe it's just stress.

Yup, especially if you have expereinced it before.

I can hit a two-three day patch, where I might have well as staid in bed.

IMHO, nutrition plays a big role for me, if i'm running hard for several days, and dont eat right, 3-4 days later that cortisol goes up and yuck.

Go pull a nose hair. That will make you forget about your depression. man, I did that this morning. I had a hanger coming out of my nose. I sneezed like 22 times, wiped away the tears, and realized 15 minutes had passed in no time at all. That's my new cure for depression. That's my cure for anything. What's that? You were shot in the chest? Pull a nose hair.

I have experienced this my WHOLE life. It was worse when I was younger (pre-teens and teens). It was so bad that at the time my mother had me write down on a calender when I would feel "down". It has always come and gone and sometimes stays for short periods of time. I have never been medicated and for the time being I don't plan on it. Medication works wonders for some but I don't want to be a guinea pig with all diff sorts of meds. NOt to mention the possible side effects. I figured I've made it damn near 25 years thus far with no meds no need to go to them now. But some do need them, my mom is one.

Isn't that two words? Lol! Does it have to get into your system over a period of time or does it work fairly fast? I get to the point sometimes where I don't even care anything about eating. It's weird, it comes and goes.

                  Re: Depression

I've been experiencing some depression for the past couple months. It's like every single negative thing that could happen in my life all decided to happen around the same time. I just can't seem to pull myself out of it.

I've held off on an anti-depressant to this point, but I'll probably wind up going on something...

Smart ass! Well, i notice a difference in about a wk, but i take it every day reguardless. Mostly it helps with cortisol, which helps calming, stress, temper, moodiness. Ive noticed a big difference, but i have been taking them for about 6 months now, but it doesnt take that long to start seeing a change. There may also be fluctuations in seratonin levels, especially during and after cycles. Hormones are a very difficult thing sometimes to figure out correcting. I go with the cheap route first. If it is ongoing, it might be best to see an internist. Ive gone to plenty of endos not just for myself, and sometimes it is better to go to an internal medicine MD to find the root of the prob. It could possibly be a number of things: pituitary not functioning properly, tsh levels low or fluctuate, glucose testing may have to be done, because this can alter other hormones in the body. All these, or any one, if not working correctly can offset other endocrine systems, causing all kinds of probs, emotional, weight issues, sleep disorders etc.

                        Re: Depression

I have the same problem man. The only thing I am using right now is St Johns Wort. I was on Lexapro a while back just because I would get so stressed out I would feel like I am going nuts. It seemed to work well for me but when you miss a day or two you WILL know it. I got all spacey and could not focus on things to save my life. In my job I can't have that so I ended up coming off because I just could not alaways remember to take the pill. Coming off sucks so bad though, it was the same feelings as when I would miss a dose but longer and more intense. If at all possible, try the natural stuff in my opinion.

Oh yeah one important thing: SSRI's like lexapro can RUIN your sex life. I could not "finish" like normal. just a FYI

Seems like we should start a club or something.

I am like that from time to time. Now being one of those times The weather outside sucks i sleep 18hrs a day dont want to train my BP went thru the roof again so i had to come off.
What keeps me goin is all the time i am spending with my daughter right now. Shes my world. To see her smile hear her laugh nothing else matters.

Usually some high dose test snaps me right out of it. Changes my mind set makes me feel invincible again.
                          Just a thought
