Ok, what do you think had to take place to feed all those people? Do you think the government just had dozens of trucks already loaded with food sitting in a wharehouse just out of spite? Seriously? First, it happened, then the damage report had to come in, then the game plan had to be put together, then the supplies and trucks had to be rounded up, and then they had to drive all the way down there. Do you really expect all that to happen in two days? Also, and this is a fact, the trucks were stopped outside of the city by the government because gangs or whoever were shooting at them. I'm not talking about the guns in peoples homes, I'm talking about the guns in people's hands. It was all over the news bro. But, either way, I worked in trucking for a few years and you don't just put something like that together overnight. The trucks must be rounded up, for all you know, half of those trucks probably took 2-3 days just to get to the food pick up place. It all depends on what those trucks were doing when this took place. I mean, you don't really think teh goverment just had all these trucks sitting around and all this food just sitting aroudn do you? Of course you don't, so you realize the organization it would have taken to get all that rounded up. It's not something that happens in a day or two, it takes time to get all that in place and ready to go. Then, once everything is there, it takes days to drive there. It's not like car, it's an 18 wheeler and there are laws as to how many hours and miles they are allowed to drive a day. Maybe the government let them bend those rules, maybe they didn't. I don't think you really understand how complicated it would have been to get all that to come together at the that time and sent down there. You are talking about alot of stuff that all had to be cancelled and so forth just to get that many trucks together. And, if most of those trucks already had loads on them, I'm sure they had to wait for them to make the delivery before they could get the trucks back. You have to look at ALL the possiblities before you can just rely on one thing like 'it took 6 days' because I'm actually surprised they did it that fast considereing all the obsticals they probably had to hurdle to make it happen. But then again, I have a trucking back ground so I'm full aware of all the obstacles.

Down in Florida we knew it was going to hit there, and that it was going to be atleast a category 3 about 4 days before it even made landfall. So with this information the government is supposed to do a thing called preperations. Which involves getting things ready for the aftermath.

Plus if your such an expert in everything, you'd know that Katrina did the damage it did because the government didn't heed the experts warnings to upgrade the levys because the weren't enough to withstand a big storm. They said New Orleans would be 10 feet underwater if any catastrophic storm hit. The government ignored them. Guess who was right!

So go on in your world of ignorance. Until people open their eyes, our country will always be f'd up. You would have done great in medievil england. Fall in line, and believe everything your government says! Absolutely unbelievable!

Also it's not just your checks that are stripped for this war, it's the gas you put in your car too. I love how we take over an oil rich country and all of a sudden our prices soar. 1. We control Iraq's oil now. Even if they do sometimes sabotage deliveries, it's free oil we didn't have before. If you believe otherwise, your naive!

2. We aren't at war with the saudi's and actually we are in good with them, so even if we were to get our oil from them, why would they just decide to jack up the price out of nowhere.

3. THIS IS MY FAVORITE ONE....In 1997 I used to pay .92 cents for 93 octane gas. So are you honestly telling me that supply and demand got so out of control in the last ten years that it almost quadrupled in price?? HAHA yeah right. Get a freaking clue!

4. Lastly, if it was truly opec (which it's not) that drove prices so high, how come our government has not removed all taxes from gas until prices fall back down to reasonable levels again? Higher gas prices equals more taxes going into the government. Do you think their complaining about the prices? HELL NO! They just gave themselves $10,000 raises (which was all over cnn) to offset the extra traveling expenses they were incurring.

So again our government doesn't give a rat's asss about us. We're just a bunch of cows sitting in their concrete fields, making them money, while they live the good life!

But maybe I'm just an ignorant buffon that imagines all of this stuff!

dj...you keep jumpin on the katrina thing, but you gotta remember andrew...it wasnt like aid was there waiting for everyone before the storm (even though it was perdicted). i lived across the state. i shot across alligator alley to help. there wasnt nowhere near the logistical problems that aid workers had in NO (witch was like a bowl filled with standing water), but yet aid was nowhere to be found in holmstead/lauderdale....i brought water..i brought old blankets and clothes. now, you gotta admit, with andrew, the water receded faster, the infrastructure of the cities were planned better, the structures of most buildings were better preppared than the old building in a historic city like NO. i wont say the fed's were prepared. it's clear that they were not, but they wasnt prepared for andrew either, and yet nobody cries. we shoulda found kanye west to help us out i guess.

How is it supporting your statement? The government was told by many experts the levy needed to be upgraded and would fail if a catastrophic storm were to come, and that New Orleans would be 10ft underwater. They were told this years before, not at the last second. But the government purposefully ignored them. So first off they didn't try to avoid a disaster when they could have. So YES they could have been prepared.

That's what I said before.

Also the government should have had a team ready to go as soon as they were given fair warning that a catastrophic storm was heading that way, ESPECIALLY because they knew it would be underwater due to their negligence of setting up proper levy's to protect the people.

It's quite sad that I knew here in Florida, that the storm was hitting there 5 days before it did. So If I knew and I'm just a citizen, why the hell didn't the government prepare for it?

Because of the reason you stated bro, no one 'knew' the levys 'would' break, therefore no one could have been prepared for that. Sure, there's always the hypothetical, but you can't run the government's resources based on hypotheticals. The assumption was I'm sure, 'we have a hurricane coming so get prepared' and then when the levys broke, it became a whole new plan. Basically, they had to start from scratch to meet the needs of the unexpected. Which was my point, there was no way they could have predicted exactly what happened so therefore, they were not prepared. Since you can not prepare for the unknown, they had to wait until they knew eactly how bad it was to begin preparations. Even if they did start to prepare for it, as soon as they found out the levys broke that would have put that plan to bed and a whole new one would have been worked up. As a result of the unexpected happening, they had to pull resources that weren't right at their finger tips and it took time. That was my whole point. Now, if you are under the assumption they knew 100% that the levys would break without a doubt, then that's where are opinions differ. Because whether they were weak or not, no one could know 100% for sure they would break. As a result, no one was prepared for the what actually happened.
