  • New car opinions?????

I need the opinions of my fellow fitnessgeared brothers and sisters! I have a lawsuit going with a major car company and am going to have probably around 30k cash to spend on a new car.

(please don't ask which company and if you know what I drive don't mention which car because I'm not allowed to speak of that part as of this moment.)

I'm thinking of a few different things. I'll be getting the money mid 2007.

So I was either going to pick up a used car (around 10k) like maybe a Mitsubishi Eclipse convertible 2000-2005 style, Bmw 323i 4 door 1999-2002, or a 2001-2002 S60(not a type r). Hold on to it for about a year and a half then sell it and buy either the new Dodge Challenger or Chevy Camaro.

    Dodge Challenger- http://www.dodge.com/en/challenger/index.html

    Chevy Camaro- http://www.automobilemag.com/auto_sh...amaro_concept/

    Or...

I am thinking of buying a 2005-2006 Volvo S60 R now which run about 25k used. This is a 300+ hp, 13 second 1/4 mile, luxury car with the most comfortable interiors I've ever been in. Then to top it off it's a Volvo, so safety is the main key. And last but not least the look is sweet. Not usually one of volvo's strong points but definitely was in this case.

Here's a link to one on ebay. Check out all the pics before helping me pick............http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DEMO-...QQcmdZViewItem

If I buy used first I'll spend around 10k for it. So I'll have 20k cash left. When It's time to buy the challenger or camaro I can sell the used car and probably get like 5k for it. So I'll have 25k cash by then and I'll be able to buy either one of those cars cash. If I were to buy the S60 R which I really want also first, then I would have 0 left for the camaro or challenger, and when I sold the s60 r I'd probably get about 15k for it.

    Re: New car opinions?????

Bro stay away from Mitsubishi!!!! My dad had a 93 Eclipse and it was garbage! A friend had a 1996 Eclipse and samething, pure garbage!!! With that said, I'd get that Volvo S60. I love Luxury sports sedans. Volvo makes nice cars. The body style is nice. The BMW 323i is not sporty looking IMO. Now if it was the 330Ci then I'd get that over the Volvo. The only thing I dislike with the Volvo is the automatic tranny. Other than that it's golden!!!

the challenger is gonna be my dream ride. with the 425 hp srt package and a 6 speed trans that thing ought to fly and look good doing it.

i am not fond of volvo, must be from when i was a kid and saw the ugly boxes driving by. so there is nothing quantitative there

Yeah I know what your saying. I used to call them the ugly foreheads when I was younger because the windsheild looked like some freaking long ugly forehead. But the new volvo is pretty hot. Did you see the link I posted?

So for all of you saying challenger, are you saying to go with used then? That's kind of where I was leaning.

I'm more of a truck guy myself. Gotta have one for work reguardless, but if I could have any I would roll with the BMW.

depends on what exactly you want. You mostly into sporty? coupes? sedans? family? I like the Volvo's. But the challenger looks sweet too. Personally my favorite is Benz, but thats just me, I've had plenty of those, always good to have.

You better get a bicycle with the economy the way it is. LOL

All of your choices are gas guzzlers. So, when gas goes back up, you better not start complaining about it. LOL

Damn, I'm all over you today. LOL Get the BMW if it's used. I love this country, but let's face it, we don't make cars worth a damn. Other than pick up trucks, we fall short big time. I think the only used American cars I would buy woudl be Jeeps, or pick up trucks. Of course, I'm just basing this on my experiences. I had a used Camero and that thing was a nightmare. I had a very used Saab once and that car ran great. I had a jeep that I ran to 209,000 miles with the same engine and tranny and it still ran like a champ. I also had an Acura Integra that I ran to over 200k miles and it too still ran like a champ. Sure, you have to replace things like water pumps and alternators and stuff like that, but no engine or tranny probs. However, I do take very good care of my cars too.

But don't forget if you buy a used bmw, make sure you get some kind of warranty, cause if you have any problems, be ready to spend a lot of dough.

Yeah I would get the used bimar first ^ about the warranty and then get the challenger that eould probably be the smartest thing to do instead of getting that volvo and have less money for it .I know patients is tuff sometimes but if ur only gonna keep it for a year go for the used bima ,unless if u hit the lotto or something than its on lol

I think you misunderstood me Tbag...(oh shit Now I'm all over you beotch) HAHA.

Anyway I'm saying I'm either going to buy a used car like an 00-02 regular S60 not the R, a 99-02 BMW 323I, or a Mitsu Eclipse 00-05 convert (which are the reliable ones because they no longer have turbos) for in the 10k price range so in 2008 when the new challenger / Camaro comes out I'll have more money towards one of them.

Or I would buy the S60R I really want which is like 25k which would leave me with whatever I can sell it for in 08 to buy my Challenger / Camaro.

I'm not going to buy the Challenger or Camaro used. I'm buying one of them the minute it hits showroom floors.

Damn you Tbag, sometimes you have to interpret things before you respond. Maybe we should change your name to Captain Interpretation! OH! HAHAHA! (Now who's all over who)
