Lol@02! Handshake? Anyways, ByRon if you have to take a loan out for a ring, then you can't afford it, imo! Is she high maintenance or what? You guys really have to get the blinders off and look at the real world, unless you and her are making tons of cash, you really need to start saving. If you ever want to think about bigger house, child, retirement you really need to start disciplining yourselves, and its not just about your income, its both of yours. I know alot of single women, and thats the biggest prob nowdays, is the woman makes very good money and thinks she has a right to do with it what she wants, so there is no colaboration of funds. Marriage is a two way street. Lifes not all about what kind of car you drive or how big the ring is, that is something for someone that is already established. Many women now days are getting a plain gold band and a solitare with a size diamond they can afford. Then later, 10-20yrs down the road then think about the 2carat diamond.

Exactly! You could get a huge 5 carat perfect stone and screw up the proposal then the stone doesn't matter. Hell, my wife picked hers out because she has thin fingers and she knew I would go too big. She saved me about $1,500. The ring is not what they talk about, they talk about the proposal.

Now, are you sure this is the best thing right now? Seriously, have you actually thought this all the way through? You have a serious drinking problem, do you think it fair to bring her in closer until you resolve that? And a few days is not enough. When you have avoided gettign drunk for atleast 6 months then that is an accomplishment. Just my thoughts bro.
